Howdy doody,

Looking for some more experienced eyes here. Looking at a new hybrid, has to be through Evans and not discounted. Looking at price range of £650 - £800.

Not fussed about getting front susp.

So far been looking at these:

What do you reckon out of them? I do like the Scott one but hard to choose!
 
They are all pretty good and will be excellent commuter/city bikes.
Comes down to personal preference and trying them out is recommended.

Personally I prefer the Lapierre; you don't really need disc brakes on these types of bikes, it's very light (confirmed by the Q&A response) and it looks great.
 
Ordered some new shiney from Actionsportd.de Sram PG990 with Green spider.

My order was picked up straight away and dispatched all within 3hours
:D Got to love them Germans, I received an email at each stage. Oh and it was £37

So just need the Cassette to go with my New Fulcrum Red Metal wheels that also just arrived today.

Now need some recommendations on tyres, I want some light weight fast rolling XC tyres for my Merlin. I'm thinking Maxxis Aspen ?

Oh and some more green to match the Cassette ! that might have to be some Superstar Comps Superfly Alloy Hollow Cro-mo QRs in Techno Lime Green.

Having a lighter bike obviously helps but fitness is more of factor when climbing hills. Looking at the spec the weight difference is probably only 200-300 grams.

yeh i did lift them both up and i know the amount is smallish but i really did notice it....plus the brakes etc are better speced.

thanks for pointing out the spec kit reward - need to check that out!

Not been out on it yet waiting for the last dose of salt to hit the road before it goes outside. Can't wait though.

Just started using SPD's. Really noticing how much faster I am on them. However I had an SPD moment last night on the ride home from work and ended up in A&E getting my flesh glued back together :o

My journey from work does include about 12km through outback Australia with plenty of Kangaroos to chase :D
 
Has anyone got recommendations for some tubeless tyres? I need some new ones as a lot of my riding is over sharp rocks and my Maxxis advantage's have rips in the sidewall so Im looking for something with stronger sidewalls.

Medium - I'm 5'9 10st usually go for medium size. Fit is good the reach is a tad smaller than I'm used to but I think that might be better as a racer. Was looking at a cannondale six but didn't want shimano groupset, and at £1300 was a decent price.

Yes. I'm about 30"-31" inside leg. The saddle height on that photograph would probably be about your height, i've lowered it by about 2 inches for me. So for you you are probably going to be into a more race position than I am.

Also if you are fitting guards (?) I think you might struggle on this.
 
Argghhh I'm having a nightmare of a time deciding on what bike to get, I love the forest trails locally but found out 3 days ago that a Downhill course is being built literally down the road from me.

I was looking at the KHS 604 XC before but think maybe an all mountain bike would be a better choice for both the trials and some DH action.

Ideally I'd want something with plenty of travel but something I can still actually take onto the moors and not kill myself trying to go up hill. Budget is max 1500

You want an all mountain bike, this will allow you to ride a bit of everything something 150-160mm of travel.

For your budget I would recommend a YT Wicked a bargain for the spec.
