edit: actually, that picture is a bit misleading. It shows a clipless pedal with a cleat on your shoe. The ball of the foot is still above the axle (dashed red line shows this) but the pedal body is not symmetrical so it looks very far forwards.

I would say that I do have my foot in that position most of the time, though with flats you're moving around a fair bit.
 
i'm looking at tyres i was going to buy a set of road and a set of offroad and switch them every time i want to go offroad but tbh i don't want to do that. i ride my bike everyday to work but also like to go out after work for a bit of offroading fun, i'm on some conti speed king they are good but have worn very quickly,can somone suggest a good combo tyre (good on and offroad) i'm looking at the likes of those kenda smallblocks tyres, i don't go in mud very often these sort of look like what i need but i simple don't know.
 
Guys, looking to upgrade my forks soonish. Decided on the Reba's I think, either the SL or Teams with 100mm travel. From doing some research it seems like the only difference is the "Blackbox Motion Control". Is this correct? And is it worth the extra money?

It's for a Genesis Core used for UK forest/trail riding. I'm a pretty big lad 6'3" 100kg ish if that makes any difference.

Saddles are completely personal, some bike shops can measure your sit bones (you sit on a foam imprint and they measure it), with this measurement you can choose more wisely although you can never really tell until you've sat on the thing for a few hours. I think some shops let you try out a saddle then swap it if you're not happy, it'd be worth having a google.

Just spoke to my LBS (UKCycleStore) who have the white one in stock in all sizes. They have the measuring gage too so going there after work to get measured and pick one up. Thanks for the advice

I am in more or less the same boat, i would say that i use my bike about 60% tarmac, 40% off road....my tires are wearing a bit fast too and i know that i am getting too much resistance from them.

Any suggestions or is it worth just going to my local shop and asking for their opinions?
 
God im getting ****** off.

Everytime i order a full-face helmet they're out of stock. Always. Ive ordered 6 from different places over the past month and im still without a helmet.

I wish i fell under the size large and not small :(
 
The Cervelo is nearly up and running!

However, have just had a call from the bike shop to say that the rear mech hanger is slightly bent. Have to pick up a new one tonight and wait whilst they do the indexing on Saturday.

Sunday I'm planning a brick session, lazy ride out to heron lake, 1km open water swim, followed by a 20km fast route home (admittedly with backpack, traffic and red lights), then maybe a 5km run. Should be fun!
 
bikes not turning up till monday - mutter mutter :(

Had a change of heart on the pedal/shoe combo though so selling off the (unused) Bontrager street shoes and candy Cs in favour of a more road focused pair... curse my expensive indecision.

Knowing my luck the shoes won't turn up till the end of next week now!

Small Block 8's are very good in dry and dusty situations but once you hit a bit of mud they clog up like mad but soon shed it once you get onto less boggy areas.
I had a set on my Mongoose when I went to Epping Forest and they coped fine.
 
Any of you MTB guys recommend a pair of good gloves?. I have Specialized BG Gel 2010 track mitts for the road bike but fancy a pair of pukka MTB/Off road gloves for use on the Cube.

Been looking at Giro Xen's and Alpinestars Dual or Jet's. Not sure about the Giro's, some reviews on CRC and Wiggle don't speak to highly of their construction and ability to take wear. Look the part though. :cool:

Alpinestars I'm drawn to as I use a fair bit of their kit on my motorcycle and know it is always top quality.

Any other recommendations or comments on the above gloves?. Looking to spend about £30-£40. Cheers.

Well... a bit below your budget; But the first pair of MTB gloves I bought were a pair of 661's. Err... the Comp's I think.
They've been the best pair of gloves I've tried.
Fit well.. like a glove. :D Have had a good few years of service from them - will be looking to get another pair soon. Maybe the Raji's.

Have a look at the 661 Evo Glove. A little bit over your price range but I've heard good things about them..

Troy Lee Designs do some nice gloves too.

Other gloves to look at: Mace, Dakine, Raceface, Royal, Sombrio, Thor. :p
