ye I ended up with some touch up paint on my carbon fibre bike then put some helicopter tape on the vulnerable parts, made a mess of it though, I'm so cack handed when doing stuff like that.

Wow, that 1st vid shows how quickly a really nasty crash can happen.....scary stuff. One of my mates refuses to wear a helmet despite the rest of us clubbing together and buying him one (he says it makes him uncomfortable)
I'm going to show him that video.....

Yeah, it really is daft not wearing a helmet. Some people I know don't wear one because it doesn't look cool. That guy in the video would have had serious damage to his head without that helmet.

The first video shows what happens when you don't think about what you're doing. At the speed he was going that was the only possible outcome.

Well I came off yesterday, if I wasnt wearing a helmet then i would be in hospital right now. :(

Can anyone recommned me a new rim? stronger than the Mavic 717 but not too heavy.

Hello all, newcomer to the thread. Currently not sure which direction to go in terms of road bike or mountain. Are hybrids the wrong way to go? Think im more of a mountain biking type but does anybody know of places to use it in NI!?

New Elixir 5 brakes fitted, new Wellgo MG1's fitted and new GT Grips fitted, all in white :p
Did the Golspie Wildcat Black run yesterday. These brakes are awesome!

Need to upgrade my Kenda tyres I think.....got 2 punctures on the rear....XC tyres jst dont cut it on that trail.
My mate told me to go for Maxxis Minion but not sure which one.....any recommendations? Mostly dry, very rocky trail riding this summer I think:

EDIT: These are my current tyres: Kenda Nevegal 26x2.1'' Stick-E front, DTC rear

What type of punctures are you getting? Of its pinch (snake bites) flats then maybe you need to just rethink your tyre pressures?

Minions are DH tyres and come in either 2.5 or 2.7 sizes so you'll find them very big and heavy compared to your 2.1s. You might also have clearance issues depending on your bike.

Minions are good tyres tho, especially the supertacky version. Awesome grip on dry rocks because they are very soft - but that does mean they wear very quickly also.

You can get 2.35 Super tacky Minions too. I would go for the 2.4 Mountain King Protection's. Light weight, fast rolling high volume tyres. The black chilli compound is super grippy on wet rocks. Not cheap though.

im heading upto golspie tomorrow and was wondering about tyres, probably run them at 35ish psi
got panaracers fire xc on at the moment but taking a set of swamp things as well
