Prob should have mentioned that I have ridden a DH bike before. Just not the downhill WC track :D
Plenty experience on black level riding on a DH bike (yes, on a DH bike. Wildcat, Wolftrax etc. Not fun on the way up tho...)
I'm out 3 times a week at the moment at Golspie, Learnie and Balbair
I've been told I have a screw loose and have had my share of bumps and bruises :) The only way you learn is to get stuck in.
Once I can justify spending the cash on one, I will, but until then I'm happy to borrow/hire one.
I appreciate your concern though :)

You sir have some serious testicular fortitude or the severe lack of sense

I dont think its that bad really?

If you take it easy and stay within your limits, walk sections of the track that you are unsure of before you ride them and just generally be sensible about it then you shouldnt have any problems.
You dont need to be challenging Gee's time to have fun.

Going from riding Wolftrax XC routes etc is probably less of a jump than riding the blue Cwmcarn DH to the Fort Bill WC track. :p

I can't even ride the Nevis red without falling off so good luck on the WC track. ;)

Ah, that's fair enough

Indeed, but regardless of how fast you are going - you need a certain level of experience to be able to navigate your way down and have the knowledge to know when speed is actually your friend.
Taking it slow is not always the best option. Going slow can sometimes get you into a lot of trouble.

For the record, sometimes its harder to walk a track than it is to ride it ;)

I've heard about that drop! :) Saw a photo as well, it looks huge!

I hadn't considered Elgin to be honest, might be a good one to test the waters :)

Wildcat tonight though :D

lol alans bmx used to throw in sweet and innertubes all the time years ago. once my one time i had a big order and it was sent out a day late, they emailed me an apology and sent a jiffy bag full of sweet and stickers with it. :D

Bit of advice needed here!!

I'm cycling in the London Bikeathon on Sunday and the forecast temperature is 30°C. Apart from a Camelbak, padded shorts and wicking cycling shirt is there anything that you would recommend i take with me for the 26 mile ride to make it more bearable? I'll be putting some sun cream on and wearing sunglasses too.
