2007 Marzocchi were good. The 2008 Marzocchi's were really bad when they first moved production to Taiwan. 2009's were bad, just not as bad. 2010's are

ARRRGHHHH - new pedals/saddle and gloves arrived today.

Saddle in place - done
Gloves fit? - yes
Pedals in place - errrr - one done.

Can't for the LIFE of me get the left hand pedal off!! Not got the proper tool but thought that a decent set of grips would have done fine as they did for the right hand side.

YES - i am aware that it's threaded the other way before I get mauled!! Will need to see if I can find a spanner (15mm) to fit, if not will take it to LBS and see if they would be kind enough to get it off!!

Squirt a bit of wd40 on the sucker and leave it overnight (might be a bit late now!) then try it in the morning.

Not Superstar pedals are they? Try a rubber mallet. Screw that. Sledgehammer them!

I think you've answered your own question to be honest... try a spanner :p

Idiot's guide, just how I like it. Cheers :D
I just replaced my '07 RC2X 66 with an updated '10 RC3 66 Ti 1.5, avoiding the bad years in between.

Gratuitous bike shot again :D

Does anyone have any advice for keeping up to speed with demo days etc? I'm hopefully going to be in a position to buy a FR/DH bike towards the end of the year and I'd like to swing my leg over as many candidates as possible before then..

I've bookmarked a page on evans cycles that gets updated but they mainly seem to demo trail and road bikes, there's also this which I'm keeping an eye on http://www.testbike.co.uk/

Also has anyone ever been to any and can you share your experiences?

Bike radar run big demo days all over the country at different trail centres but you have missed them for this year (bikeradar demodays.com) :p and they dont usually have DH bikes mainly trail ones.
Your best bet to try a FR/DH is going to be at a centre where its main tracks are DH, probably going to be Scotland ;) as they are more likely to have big demo bikes.

A heads up on a new initiative by Evans Cycles. Twice a month, each Evans store will be running a 2 hour course which will be covering the basics of cycle maintenance, including wheel truing, brakes, gears plus more. The course is free of charge. You pay £10 deposit and they will refund it if you attend on the day. Also, if you bring parts with you, so i was told, you can fit them during the course. I'll be going on 13th July and i'll let you all know how it went.

... it's a trek, you race in the UK...and we dont throw our bikes off the back of an uplift truck :D

Three big reasons right there!

You lot said:
thread about Marzocchis

Marzocchi 2010 are good. A riding buddy is the Chain Reaction Cycle world-cup teams mechanic, one of the team mechanics anyways. He said that the team is very happy with the performance this year and he's very happy with the production quality of the forks.

Guess who just joined the Deemax club? :D

Won't have them in time for Whistler though :(

That's what you get for mentioning Whistler again... next time you mention it , your testicles or forks will fall off!

I need some pedal advice.
I have look keo easys on my road bike but there is a little play in the bearings now (i dont think it's worth, or even possible, to replace them). So i need some new pedals. I quite liked the keo easys so im thinking about just getting another pair the same. They are cheap and i know that i wont have any problems with them. But are there better pedals out there? I'v never used any other pedals so i dont know? What do you lot use?

You should be able to replace the spring in them to suit your weight, from a little googling it seem this place stock springs but you need to call them and tell them your fork and weight and they should be able to sort you out.

http://www.greyville.com/contact_us

Just to let you know a guy from there got back to me, they don't do heavier weight springs for them, but he's going to send me new rubbers free of charge, he reckons that it may have degraded. Said he'll send me two and if I cut one in half and stack it with the full size one it should make it a bit more suitable for my weight. Hopefully that'll help til I get some wedge for new forks.

Thanks mate :)
