Hey guys,

Anyone here had any experience with the 2010 Giant Faith?

Just an update, I ended up with the Giant Faith, had it a couple of months now :) An SX Trail II was my first choice but not available, so I thought I would give this a go...

Cheers guys,

The SX was sold out, and not comming out for 2011 so that was that. Have to say this rides very well though, but I'm not a huge fan of the blue linkages and front hub. I had rode the SX Trail and it felt lower and slacker with a prefered shorter seat tube, but I felt the spec a little poorer. Currently need a heavier spring rate on the rear, a Vivid Air may be a nice luxury there.

Totems required an oil change, like 2010 Boxxers I guess they may have inconsistencies as the oil levels were wrong. It's easier to throw around than the DH bike, but still not as chuckable as a 140mm or 160mm travel bike nor as confident and forgiving as the Furious seemed, but then again I'm 14st and a bit slow these days and not had a lot of time on it, and still seem to have an ankle injury hanging on from months back.

Quick question:

I have no experience of these bikes so hope some of you might.
Mate wants a cheapish bike to getting into easy trails and get fitter, he has seen the Carrera range at Halfords particularly the Vengeance. I know Halfords are pretty poor for CS but is this bike any good?

It appears to all Shimano and Alu framed, Forks look at a bit pants at best though.

Thoughts?

Not badly specced for the price.
You won't get better at that price i dont think.

IK personally would have gone for a Specialized Hard Rock though.. and upgrade the fork later

Thanks, that's basically what I told him, good to know I'm not totally out of it ;). Think the brakes on the Carrera are swaying him.

He wants my Epic but is not getting it :)

Oh.. didn't even spot that the brakes on the Carerra are hydraulic.
Still, Frame > Componentry .. and the Specialized is actually worth upgrading.

edit: come to think of it... I have a Hardrock in the shed I'd sell for £100 leaving him enough pennies to do some upgrades (has Hydo disk brakes and so forth) If he's interested, tell him to contact me - my email is in my trust.

Very generous of you, have sent you a message.

Just got my new toy. Giant Rapid Advanced (put my old wheels and saddle on it, need to get some pedals soon though)

Any one of my MTB, Felt Q620

Just got back from a 20m ride from Bristol->Clevedon->Portishead->Bristol. 20.85 miles, 1h 21m, 14.7mph avg, 39.1mph max.

Horrible ride though. Was a big wind the whole way, coming from the side most of the time. Also got stung by a ****ing wasp on my chest - hit my neck (didn't realise it was a wasp at that point) and went down my top, felt a tingling and didn't stop for about a minute to let the bugger out as wasn't sure what it was. I'll let you know in a few hours if I'm allergic :p.

Yea it was! :)
It was my first time there so don't know if I went down Mr Rooty or not - I didn't see any signs up for it, but might have.

Ah you probably didn't then, instead of forking off into ski run you follow the fireroad round a bit and then it's on your right - big load of off-camber roots and suchlike - it joins onto the bottom of ski run before the big table.

Good fun but its pretty hard to get a clean run in the wet :)
