More importantly, keep it out of sight.
2 bikes worth about 4k have been stolen near me last month. One was stolen locked on the top of a car, in broad daylight, under CCTV and in full view of large offices.

Hey, I only had my Kona stinky since sunday and I took it around Asthon court in bristol yesterday. My crank should move quite nicley shouldn't it? when I try spin it backwards it sounds like something is rubbing or holding it back since the ride in the mud. Should I take the chainguard and crank off to see what it is?

As per my thread on GD, I need to re-coop some man points so got £1000 to build a reasonable DH/Freeride rig any recommendations on parts new or used.
Its primarily for UK riding so I doubt dual crown forks are really necessary.

Don't have one, sold it 2 months ago with the intention of getting a DH rig with the proceeds unfortunately that money was spent on "other" things.

I rode at Cwmcarn in the video. The Forest of Dean is worth riding too, might be a bit far for you from bristol though.

To settle the Cwmcarn wet argument, it's not too far off dry conditions, it does ride slower though and there's a layer of grease on the top (hence my crash). The rocks don't give traction either. Definitely not worth riding spikes though.
It is a bit boring, we go maybe twice a year and that keeps us happy

Ichabod_Jane and myself are planning a riding weekend in Scotland for 2 weeks time, Friday 11th Nov - Sunday 13th.
Currently it's just us two, with Matt_fsr possibly coming.
We will be riding any or all of the following 7stanes trail centres: Dalbeattie, Mabie, Ae, Kirroughtree and the trails at Drumlanrig.
We will hopefully be sleeping in a wigwam, here http://www.7stanes.com/mabie-house-pods-i601628.html I am yet to ring them to enquire about availability.
Does anyone else fancy coming along? Locals could meet up for a bit or if anyone fancies riding a bit longer then you could stay at the wigwam and obviously chip in some of the cost.
We've been on a few mini OcUK-meet rides at Glentress/Innerleithen before, the pace is usually relaxed so if you're anxious that you'll be playing catch up on the hills, don't worry
I'll come down to Ae or Drumlanrig, or both, whenever you're there, I should have that weekend off.

Ace! We haven't got a proper plan yet. Neither I nor Ichabod_Gay have been over this side before so not so sure on how hard going the trails are.
At the moment it looks like:
Friday 11th - Mabie red trail and north shore.
Sat 12th, Dalbeattie & Kirroughtree depending on legs, although both trails add up to only 40km, Kirroughtree is supposed to be pretty tough. It'd also be fun to try some night riding, so we may head back to Mabie and do some more red.
Sun 13th, Ae and Drumlanrig. The Ae red trail seems to have a lot of fireroad, so we may end up spending most of the time on the downhill trails there then heading to Drumlanrig, which is supposed to have some good natural feeling trails.
Oh great! What do you think of the red trail at Ae? 7stanes site says it's only 65% singletrack which sounds a bit turd?

Chainring seems to be in the right place, so i would guess that it's only the bash guard thats bent.
A chainguide/sensioner setup will never be as smooth when backpedalling as a normal derailleur setup. Some noise is expected, but it shouldnt give much resistance when you try to pedal backwards.

What do you guys make of the Cube Stereo? Been looking at them on CRC and they look pretty nice, not so sure about that shock position though...
Been reading some reviews which seem varied, some saying the back end isn't as plush as it should be and they're too heavy, others saying it's a great all-rounder.

It is smooth when pedaling but I can't kick it around and around if you know what i mean, like it does not spin freely
apprently my bashguard is made out of "10mm TuffMax Thermoplastic" how can that bend

It's because the crankset you're using has a tubular style rather than rectangular. You can see the crank pushing it in towards the chainring in the 2nd pic. Doesn't look like it'll be rubbing but it's worth checking.
Also on the first and last pics show the bashguard could be catching the roller. Turn the cranks to see if it catches at any high spots on the bashguard. If it does you can move it down slightly.
Check the guide roller does actually spin by lifting the chain and spinning it by hand.
Lastly I'd check the top guide plate isn't sitting on the chain if the chainring has a high spot on it.
Most chainguides won't let you spin the cranks backwards 4 or 5...probably lucky to get one and and a bit spins on a newish sealed bearing chainset even without a chain device.
If all that checks out then the bottom bracket could be stiff?

That sounds pretty normal to me.
If you can turn the pedals backwards with your hand without much effort then its fine. If you give it a kick, it might not even do a full rotation.
