Finished building my bike last night cycled it into work today.

Its very much overkill for the 3.2km commute to work but im taking the wife out on the trails on the weekend and this frame is slightly too small for me so hopefully will get her into cycling. Commuter in the week for me and weekend bike for the wife.

all in i built this for just shy of £400 (not including the brakes which i had) the frame and forks were a bargain at £70 from the auction site. XT rear mech, slx everything else apart from the hubs which are deore.

Want to build another bike now.

Quite happy with myself :P

The resale value of my Demo has probably just gone up a tad!

Specialized must have paid huge money to snag Gwin away from Trek, I'm interested to see if he can keep up the same form on the Demo.

Gee and minnar stand a chance of another overall world title now gwin has sold his sole to spesh, the demo killed off sam hill and will drag gwin too! Trek need someone now!

It's the AL+ 8.0

I'm really struggling to resist taking it out for a spin, I shouldn't be riding at the moment because of a shoulder injury but I don't know how long I can hold out :P

I do like Canyons, I got a Nerve XC 9.0 on recommendation from here :)

Take it for a "test" ride so you can at least tweak the setup :D

Woops, well I was looking to build up a cotic soul or bfe for mainly trail use... and I've ended up buying a 2012 Zesty 514 on sale :D Was talking to my cycling buddy and we're planning a few longer riding trips so really wanted something with all day comfort, light enough to cycle up hills and tough enough to have fun on the downs.

Really impressed with the bike, has some really nice little touches like nice big rubber chain guard and down tube protector as std. Also the internal cable runs means there's pretty much no cable rub points.

Cant wait for the weekend to go for a proper ride on it.

Very unprofessional of him just jumping ship when he was supposedly in 3 year contract with Trek. Oh well should make for a interesting season with big names switching teams

Just setting up the bike and was wondering about sadle height. My inseam is 85cm so the old x .889 rule gives me 75.5cm which is identical to my fixxy commuter at the moment. Do you guys run similar road/off-road saddle positions for trail riding?

Whatever feels comfortable :)

Lower saddle for the down bits.

Then mostly all footballers are unprofessional (well they probably are lol) but it's normal for people to get out of contracts before their contracts end. Otherwise wouldnt Gwin have gone for nothing? Or Specialized wouldn't have had a dime for him leaving... ?

hmmm - not looking good so far.

Tonight having a closer look at the frame, it appears that the "cups" that are pressed into the front of the frame for the fork, the top one appears to be slightly misshaped, thus the superstar headset bearings that are supposed to just "drop" into it - don't because of the slight misshape. Will have a proper look tomorrow but can't see anyway of sorting that properly. The bearing are supposed to just "drop" in but they don't due to misshapen cup. Another call to on-one tomorrow by the looks of things

Gwin has since tweeted that there's more to the story and he's looking forward to setting the record straight.

Whatever the reasons I'm sure a boat load of money went a little way to sweetening the deal.

This season is going to be awesome!

Did the frame come with the headset already pressed in place?

Will get a picture up tomorrow to show you what I mean.

Also not sure what this means but on-one had loads of the FTM's in stock in various colors and sizes yesterday - however today the price has jumped back to 849 and every model and size are suddenly out of stock!!!
