:eek: at the 225mm rotor on those forks......i take it its a 200mm mono 6 caliper with a post mount > IS+20 adapter?


Got my bits in today,the saints look the sex and feel pretty good. Dont think im gonna fit them to the current bike but will get a new bike built for january. :(
 
What you going to build?

I'm considering a new one for next summer, along the lines of a BigHit frame (not sure, maybe something else), a 5th element shock, an 888 or 66 RC2, Easton stem, post and bars, King nothreadset, deemax rims on hope hubs, Saint chaindrive, Gustav M's and M647s, with a SDG Bell Air as the cherry on the cake ;).

Emmmmm old bighit frame or the on-one growler i linked further up. 66rc2's,saint brakes,X9 gears,would like deemax wheels but might just get a new front hub for my trailpimps.
 
I broke more bits :o

I was over at Laggan on Saturday (red route and Black double diamond) and my small ring came off. I also noticed that I some how smashed some spacers for my crankset :confused: , replaced one of the spacers to find the bearings in my raceface evolve XC cranks are fubared. At least they are under warranty. :rolleyes:
 
Nope. Hecklers aren't meant to be built up light IMO. Mine started off at around 28lbs with my Blacks, x317's, float RL shock and old brakes. The new fork added 1lb, rims - 1/2lb, shock - 2lb ish?, 2.5" tyre....

They could be built to c25lbs but they shine when built for hardcore XC / light freeride, or light DH. I could reduce the weight with a Ti spring, lighter (same travel) fork, and maybe some bolt tuning but that would cost loads!

It's not the quickest accelarator but I was chuffed last week when I beat a pal on a HT up a climb. :D The DHX 5.0 is really efficiant so overall the bike is not too bad. More weight = better fittness anyway! :p

Changed my mind, considering an 06 Iron Horse 7 Point 7, as I can buy it new for ~£1000.
 
I'm thinking of adding a Marzocchi All Mountain 3 fork to my Kona Scab, however it's currently got rigid kona project two's on it. The AM3 fork looks perfect for my needs, but does anyone know if the amount of travel will be a bit much?

This is the bike in question, from what I can tell it should be ok, or does anyone think otherwise?
 
The Scab was sold with DJ Comps, which are 100mm.

The AM 2006's are 130mm, and the 2007s are 140mm, either way it's likley to be too much, something like the Rock Shox Pike or Argyle would be better as they're ~100mm.
 
Hmmm ok, well i've got £250 max for a set of forks so what would be best for me?

The bike actually came with the rigid project two's on it btw. I want a fork which is pretty strong and can take some aggresive riding, without it being a full on jump fork which weighs a ton. Also i'd rather not have a 20mm axle, as i'd need a new hub/rebuild etc. Something else to consider is that i've got a 200mm hope mono m4 on the international standard mount. It's a 17" frame, so I don't think a longer travel fork would affect the ride too much.
