X0 should be good if my X9 is anything to go with. If you wear out parts so fast why get the 991 chain?

I also think you should get two motos instead of a moto and a mono. I cant stand having mismatched brake levers.

I actually like the PC991 chain. Is it not the PC990 that can wear out faster?

I have to admit I do like X9 (last years), so X0 should be amazing.

Do the motos m4's and Mini's have different levers? I wonder if Hope could do a mini with a Moto lever? hmmm...I might have to re-think that one.

Nah im half asleep here,forgetting you can get all the brakes in 'Moto' form. They have the same lever aslong as its a moto. I just read it as you were getting a moto M4 and a mono mini not a mono moto mini.

2007 Mono M4 + mini = silver lever
2007 Mono 'Moto' M6 = silver lever with red adjuster.
2007 Mono Moto V2 = silver lever with red adjuster.

So both your brakes have the same lever.

My LBS just checked with Hope. The Mini has a different lever for 2007. So I am going for an M4 at the rear as well.

I can buy a Scott Speedster S60 flatbar roadbike for £170 quid brand new. I don't actually neeeeed it. Would it be rude not to?

go with some avid brakes, ive always used hope until just recently i got some codes and they blow my old 6 pots outta the water. Im an avid fan

No one needs more power than M4's in this country! 6 pots, Codes, Moto V2's...all a waste of time unless you ride Alpine.

Just ordered a set of Juicy 5's for the Giant. The MPH3 on the giant were good but the front one has seized and had no movement in it. Was going to go for Juicy 7's but it looks like the only difference is the 'Pad Contact Adjuster' that I'm not fussed about anyway.

Hopefully they will be here tomorrow.

Possibly overkill on power, but less fade with 6 pots. The WC track in Scotland is world class, and there are lots of steep routes in Wales that cook 4 pots too.

Steve Pete rode Fort Bill with Mono Mini's. So if you need bigger brakes you are a wimp!

They are exactly the same as the Juicy 7's in terms of power though. The 7's get good reviews.

Yeah but it's kinda different when you're pretty much the best downhill rider in the whole world, you need to break a lot less when you just float over the track and around hairpin, off-camber bends.

Then they needed a bleed or were set up in-correctly. I have a set of 5's, my riding buddy has a set of 7's, we have tried mono mini's, mono's and hayes, and we both ended up with avids. Loads of modulation, stop the bike even when clogged in inches of sandy mud like they were a few weks ago at thetford, and dead easy to set up / maintain.
I am yet to know of anyone who has ridden them for a decent amount of time and not liked them. You won't be disappointed with them.

You also need to consider the fact that Peaty's V10 (or Orange 224 GB, depending on which WC we're talking about) is far more DH orientated than a Nomad. & the fact that the only time he really brakes is when he's crossed the line... or gone past a pub

I've got the 5's on my Stumpy, they are just as good as the mono minis on my Orange but require less maintenance. Like you say they hold up well in the mud and I've not had any problems.
