My brothers currently looking at getting a Specialized stumpjumper, the one at £1500. Has juicy 5s,X9 gears, truvativ cranks and fox forks. Has the triad rear shock though,is it any good?
The Stumpjumper FSR Comp is a decent bike. I would have got one but it was £400 outside of my bike budget :(

If the newer brain shocks are anything to go by the old ones they aint very good. Try and get an up market Enduro! :) There should be a dent of the rim on this page or the last.. Fixed everything else today :D

For the equivilantly priced enduro the spec is gonna be worse than the stumpy. He was gonna just go for the £1900 stumpy but think he will be better off spending the extra £500 on upgrading the parts he wants.

Think he's going for juicy 7,X0 and xtr crankset look with hope finishing kit.

Oh yeh just got in from work,a guy called up saying his rear wheel wasnt freewheeling....asked a few questions and came tothe conclusion his rear freewheel had seized(he was talking about ****** wheel bearings). He brought it in so i whipped the old one off,new one on,replaced a tyre and straightened the wheel slightly so the brakes were set good and the wheel didnt rub.

Really shouldnt have done it on the spot but 20 minutes work and i got a fiver tip. Does me just fine, will buy my lunch tomorow. :D

how old do you need to be to work in halfords,, I need a summer job :(

dan what seat is that?

I started at 17 as did most people, dunno how you would get on at 16. Would be utterly dire wages i imagine. Everyone in my store got started on £5.05 or £5.35.

Make sure you dont break them!

Dont overtighten the axle pinch bolts and get them serviced regularly. You got a bigger rotor for the offset IS mount?

Gonna sort that out when they come. Not too sure if im gona keep them as they are a weak fork. My mate put a hole in his from an uplift?! We shall see anyways

The 2008 Fox 36's (released about 2 weeks ago) have a QR axel, might be worth waiting for the 2008 Fox 40's, I would imagine they have QR too.

lol......i honestly cant see an 8" ,40mm stantioned fork having a QR axle.

Get some recent boxxer teams, decent dampning but with none of the hassle of the solo airs. A nice inbetween fork.

If it can be done with a 6" 36mm fork I don't see why it can't be done on an 8" fork. The 36 still has a bolt thru axel so stiffness won't be any less.

The 2008 still has the allen key fastners I just found.

It could probably be done but its pointless, anybody doing downhill will want a through axle.

Wouldnt personally want a QR system. Having had one come loose i dont fancy it while doing a jump/drop etc.

There is regular QR, QR20, Maxle,Whyte axel and the Marin version and Fox's new maxle copy. The Totem can be had with 180mm travel and a QR system. I don't see why it's not a bad idea. The bolt is still going to have to unthread for the wheel to come off. I can't see that happening.

Well what would be the benifit of it anyways? My rear wheel is bolt thru axle as well..

I once had my front QR come loose but i only found out AFTER i had launched a stair set.......if my wheel had came out i would have been in hospital for quite a while.

I'v lost count on how many QR skewers i'v bent aswell.

No performance gain but errr...you can quickly release your wheel when you want to?. ;)

Quickly release it mid air :p Sorry but unless your running Cross Country and get 1000000 punctures a ride.. It just aint worth it.
