*** Big Fat Weight Loss Thread ***

I am simply eating less. Nothing special, not hitting the gym, not going for a run. Just smaller portions of everything I normally eats. That includes chocolate, just less of it. I even had a few odd pringles, although not opened a whole packet of crisps and ate that in 1 sitting.

I am sure there is a margin of error in these things, what I am looking for is the direction of the trend rather than absolutes.

I just don't have the willpower to only eat a few pringles crisps. :(

i agree.

once opened, need to be eaten..same with chocolate

So I send a care box to the girlfriend last week, due to the cost of the parcel, which gets silly when it hits 2kg, I stuff the box full as close as it gets to 2kg without going over. I have 1 bar of Cardbury's Dairy Milk (the little 25g ones) left, it's been sitting on the coffee table at home for the past 10 days lol.

The blueberry ice cream turned out well, somewhere between a sorbet and a proper ice cream - it was a fair bit softer than the previous attempt so I put it in the freezer for an hour and a half.

350g blueberries
30g vanilla protein powder
Sachet of sugar free raspberry jelly
100ml of semi skimmed milk
200ml of water

336 calories, and again enough to serve 4. I'll definitely be trying almond milk or similar to make it a bit creamier.

Oooh that sounds pretty good.

I think i missed the original post and searching the posts just gives a few ingredient lists. Once you've blended it, do you then just stick it in the freezer?
Either up to three hours in the freezer (after that it's supposed to freeze solid) or you can eat it as soon as it's blended, although that might work a little better if some of the water was replaced with ice cubes.

I might try this, perhaps not with the protein powder as I don't have any.

Got a gelato machine so this should be easy enough to do. They are great things, throw in a cup of normal coffee and it comes out like ice cream.

I feel like i need one of these for the summer!

A cheaper option is one of these. Almost the reverse way of doing it, what commercial kitchen uses but this is a consumer version and by all reviews, a VERY good one. (The patent has expired for the Pacojet)

The trouble with an ice cream machine like mine, with a compressor built in is that it is heavy. It needs to stay in the same spot without moving due to the coolant inside. If you move it, you need to let it settle down for 24hrs before using it again. So, it's not something you can take it in and out of the cupboard.

The positive is that there is no prep, you turn it on when you need to make a dessert. Pour in your mixture and wait 20 or so minutes and it is done.

With the Ninja, or any other method of making ice cream, you need to pre-freeze it in the freezer. So more planning is required.

On the other news, lost another 120g today, although I must add that last night I had a BIG tuna salad, so there was more bowel movement this morning than the day before lol But the fat has dropped 0.1%.

Did some quick maths, at the current rate, and even if it does not plateau...it is going to take 40 weeks at the rate of 1lb a week to hit my 11st/70kg goal. Which is practically Christmas time. Which puts into perspective how much work I still have to do, a long marathon.

You seem to have the mental strength to overcome that though with the willpower not to snack (he says whilst currently eating some marshmallows my wife bought)

I am quite good at push through the hunger part until the next meal time. Since I am counting the calories, I know what I am eating is enough for me, I am not starving. So mentally I know I eat enough, this has help me stop eating more.

When I do snack, I have been eating dried mangoes or 10 to 20 pistachios, which I take into account of my calorie count so overall I never go above it. I seem to have found this will power not to touch packets of crisps or bars of chocolate. Don't know where that came from. loi

10 or 20 pistachios ?

you mister are a savage... open bags of pistachios and not eat all..same with chocolate...
LOL

i'm staying away from nuts..love them, but so dense in calories its a joke

Can't remember what my starting weight in this thread was, 90 or 91kg back in October. Weighed in this morning before my ride at 82.1kg. Happy seeing the numbers go down but I don't really feel any different in myself and with no end goal in mind I'm just going to continue not eating the rubbish I'd binge on beforehand.

Yeah, 30g is 180 calories...Pistachios is good the fact that I need to open each one to eat them, I can't grab a handful and shove them in my mouth.
