*** Big Fat Weight Loss Thread ***

Ok, lets get those New Year figures in since today is the "real" first day if we're all honest :)

99.30kg for me

Have sorted going to Spain for 3 months in March which is a fairly fixed date (~8th), That gives me 10 weeks. I want to be sub 94kg i think by then, which should be properly achievable as long as i can get my impulses under control. The wife is in agreement on no takeaways till then too to help with saving as much as we can given we'll still be paying all the UK bills as well as rent etc in Spain.

Will do my first weigh in of the year tomorrow, but if my blood pressure this morning is anything to go by then I'm carrying a huge amount of bloat

I was going to start today but Toby carvery is doing half price for next 3 weeks and spoons is doing 99p a pint, so maybe next month :)

7lb gain over Christmas, bloat face achieved
5kg for me over the ten days I've been off work.

Currently on a 72 hour fast which ends at 6pm on Thursday. Not really for weight loss, but the other benefits. Such as autophagy and cell regeneration.

After eating so much a 72hr fast must be a massive mental achievement. I'm usually still in bed yet i'm already thinking about food having been up 2 hours!

Also getting back on it, was doing really well pre Xmas and fully fell off the wagon. 8-9lb gain  wish it came off as fast as it goes on for me hahaha.

Thinking about doing 5-2 just to mix it up for a few weeks then back to cal counting

This will be my third 72 hour fast, so I know what I'm in for. Did one last year and my first one a few years before that. I also did 5/2 fasting for ten years, so I'm used to feeling hungry.

For me it was kind of as expected, which is good. Up around 6½ lbs, which is normal for me if I just 'eat a lot' for around a week. I am expecting, after three days of controlled (normal) eating, I will drop 2 or 3 lbs as the volume of food inside me returns to normal/low levels, then I am left with just the actual fat gained. Perhaps in a months time I will be back to before Christmas weight, which then gives me another couple of months to drop another 4 or 5 lbs before my cycle trip to Mallorca.

Managed to stay on track over christmas, started at 11st 6.3lb ended at 11st 7.2lb and im currently bulking, I pulled together some data on my year.

My goals for the year were pretty simple, lose a bit of weight, gain a bit of muscle, be consistent, and generally move a bit more.

Here is my year in numbers:

Starting Weight: 12st 3.5lb / 171.5lb / 78kg - bf % 20-22%
Lowest Weight: 10st 2.6lb / 142.6lb /64.7kg - bf % 8-12%
Current Weight: 11st 6.4lb / 160.4lb / 72.8kg - bf % 11-14%
Total weight lost: -2st 0.9lb / -28.9lb / -13.1kg

Muscle Gained: 11.6lb / +5kg
Fat re-gained: 7lb / +3.2kg

Calories Eaten: 925,316
Calories Burned: 986,285

Steps taken: 4,068,158 (daily 10k goal)
Distance walked: 3,219km

Workouts Completed: 208 (4 per week)
Estimated workout time: 312 hours

2023 is coming up, I'm turning 40, and i want to be in good shape for then, 5.5months to go.

Started the year at 95.5kg, so the Christmas bulk hasn’t been too bad! Managed the first gym session of the year today. Felt tired, again probably due to horrid viral illness over Christmas.

Got myself logging meals again too.

@Syla5 - the big 4-0 is one of my main motivators to continue, albeit a slightly less pressing deadline that yours! Good luck! Must try harder to hit that million calories consumed though!

Should hit 1mil calories this year as i dont plan on doing an extended 5-6 month cutting period! maybe 3 months at some point.

I started October at 119.1KG which is outrageous for me really, went on holiday to Florida and when I came back I was 117.8KG which was good considering standard American eating (many many steps were done at the theme parks) since they I have been losing fairly well without being overly restrictive, just trying to be more sensible, walk more, get back on the bike trainer when possible.
I weighed in at 107.9KG on the 21st December, didn't weigh over Christmas but didn't go crazy on food and booze but comfortably would have put on a few lbs which I have since removed by way of stomach bug which kicked in on New Years Day! I am almost back to normal now but haven't been eating much at all and been confined to bed / couch so my weight was 107.3 this morning - I expect this to go up a little as eating gets back to normal.

Goal is to ramp up bike training as I have a few Sportives / Gran Fondo's in May / June and reduce the weight as much as possible to make the hills easier. Realistically I think I can get close to 90KG without killing myself but will assess at the end of Jan and see where I am at!

Gone back on IF. I was doing well doing 12000-18000 steps a day till covid knocked me for six at the end of October, then Christmas so I know I have put weight on but really don't want to step on the scales because I'll just get depressed. The tighter clothing is enough of a sign for me.
So, back on the wagon and trying to build some stamina again.

Lost 4kg on my 72 hour fast, gained 2kg after eating normally Thursday evening and all day Friday.

To be honest Friday was the best I've felt for a couple of weeks. Had plenty of energy for work and gym session.

Weekend will probably undo any weight loss with a weekend away to see family. More eating and drinking. Not that I fasted for weight loss in the first place. But back to normal clean eating from Monday onwards, plus weight training at gym, running and 10,000 steps a day.

1 Jan 2022 = 82.3 kg
1 Jan 2023 = 80.7 kg

So an overall year-on-year decrease for me! But my lowest for 2022 was 76.4kg so I've really put on about half a stone over Christmas. And I'm still finishing off the multitude of chocolates that are in the house. :(

After my 72 fast last week I decided to go back to 5/2 fasting after almost a year off from it. Started yesterday with my first fast day, felt liked I'd never stopped doing it.

Interested in how it will affect my weight training with protein intake being at lot lower than a feed day. Although I have dropped Mondays as a weight session for cardio. Thursday (my second fast day) was a never a weights day anyway.

I'm still hovering around the 99kg mark. Seem to have struggled motivationally the last 2 weeks as work has been manic with regular long days well into the night. Has meant i've boredom eaten and not had enough time to exercise, followed by the weekend where i've looked to drink wine to get over it!

This week should be quieter and so i'm going to really make the effort (i've said that before i know!)
