Big ol' Burger Comparison Thread

Went to Bournemouth for a few days and had a burger joint near the hotel called "7Bone Burger Co"

Had a "prince charles is overrated" burger - bacon, cheese, shredded iceberg, pickles, dirty spread, with some chilli cheese dirty fries.

You can choose either a 6oz pattie or 2 x 3oz smash patties, went for the smash patties.

Very good indeed, tasty and juicy, so good we went back 2 days laters and had it again. :D Son went for 2 extra smash patties for 4 in total and he couldn't manage it all, so he had to forfeit by jumping in the pool with his clothes on.

They also had epic halloumi fries.

YES! I saw that and instantly knew what place you went to. My favourite burger joint in this island.

Yeah its very good, shame they had run out of some ingredients for the Kung Fu fries, wanted to try those. :)

Not sure if they still do the Truffle burger, that one is amazing, just full of umami.

7bones is the first burger place I been to where the patty isn’t one solid lump of meat squashed together but it’s a little loose and very moist and juicy.

Beefy Boys? People at work says the burgers I make are better than Beefy Boys…

They are okay, but I don’t find myself dying to go there. I actually like Rule of Tum better. The wings from ROT is better too.

Yep BB's! I'm sure you burgers are blumin' amazing Raymond but sadly I can't call in at yours for a big juicy burger and (overpriced) beer when I'm in Hereford can I! (Can I? :p )
I did go to ROT a few years ago but was really disappointed. I had been to BB's once by then and found the burger to be really dry and generally a bit meh. Sounds like I must have been unlucky though as I trust your judgement in such matters.

Kudos for being down the road from the LEGENDARY Backstage video shop (RIP) and next to what was essentially a really cool pop-up video arcade in the mid 90s.

Ha I remember that video shop, was a member until Blockbuster came round, now gone obviously.

Between ROT and BB, it's a coin toss really, I prefer ROT generally but the burgers are smaller there. If you are in BB, try their Beer Batter Fried Chicken Burger. That is really good.

Beer Can Burgers I made inspired by the BBQ Pit Boys here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hq2kmbI_1EA&ab_channel=BBQPitBoys

They were amazing and definitely one I'll make again when I have a few folk round.

You basically just squish down about 200g of mince with a beer can (i just used a glass) and form the mince around the sides before wrapping the mince in streaky bacon. Take out the can and fill it with whatever you like. I used gouda, stilton, Mushrooms, red onlion and green peppers.

Isn't just another low tier American chain?
Said the same thing about taco bell coming over here, we have enough crap large chains here already in the UK. :p

I'm off to Portsmouth in a few weeks and after seeing some of the photos in here we will definitely be going to 7 bone

I had lunch at 7Bone today. The place was dead, I was the only person in there at about 12:30.

Chicken tenders were really good, I had 3 FKC's and they were excellent. Just what I was hoping they'd be.

The burger, a Ronald's Revenge with 2 x 3oz smash burgers was ok. Nice enough but a little bland and I didn't much like the bun. I also had kung ku fries which were fantastic I really don't like the way it was served though, there was a sheet of branded paper (for want of a better word) at the bottom of the basket which towards the end of the meal had fallen apart due to the sauces and juices from the burger so it ended up getting mixed up with my food. I didn't go there to eat paper.

Anyone tried Wendys yet, likely to be in Stratford tomorrow and see they have one, considering a Baconator.

Tried it in the US and it was ok, on the in&out / 5guys level.

Had a patty and bun for the first time in about 2 years today! The whole bit of paper on the table thing is annoying but i guess you sort of use the wrapper as a plate or something

Been enjoying a few Don Burgers recently, bunch of lads from round here have been running it for a while from various popup locations.

Beef from the really good local farm, sensible size burgers. They don't really go for the crispy veg style, more sloppy and saucy that you need to eat wrapped. Definitely recommend if you like that sort of thing. Really excellent fries too, plain, or topped versions.

Grabbed a burger from Five Akhi's in Milton Keynes last night and it was absolutely superb. I had a Juicy Lucy and my other half had a Blazing Bird, both of which were really tasty.

Sides were very good too, we had buffalo wings, classic fries, onion rings and jalapeno bites. The pots of home made spicy sauce are also very good. Nice and hot but also with a good taste.

We've eaten from there a few time and the food never disappoints.

theres a good list of London burger restaurants here: https://slman.com/18-of-best-burgers-in-london think i've been to about half so far but a few more to tick off in there - Yen and Flank both sound very tempting!

The burger and beyond pic looks vile. I don't see how anyone can find that appetising. :p

And I have call in to question the credibility of any list that includes shake shack. Think generic supermarket own brand oven chips and the cheapest burgers from the freezer section. That's how "tasty" it was when I went. :/
