Big Tech Authoritarianism

Read my blog to get the latest hot takes! :p
Sorry are you forcing me to read your blog? God, I had so much freedom when the Berlin wall was still up, CCTV was crude and women were marginalised. At least Cyprus is still under British rule and they enjoy the freedoms we allow them, right?!

Edit: BRB just discovered the address bar.

Part of the BLM movement committed crimes, they should be tried as criminals. Largely it was peaceful and those that demonstrated peacefully should not be and should not have been punished. Unfortunately that's often not the case (see misuse of 'less lethal' rounds etc.).

Part of the Trump lot committed sedition, treason and terrorism. They should be treated as such. Those that were peaceful should not be punished and aren't being punished. None of their peaceful protestors were shot in the eye with a rubber bullet, none were hit with beanbag rounds etc.

Trump got taken off Twitter because he 'incited violence' to cause the apparent terrorism in Washington, but BLM still remains. And even though both examples you gave speak of a small minority of trouble makers it shouldn't justify someone being deplatformed and also a rival social outlet ALSO being deplatformed. Can't shut down someone because you don't like what they say.

BLM isn't an individual or even a particularly organised group. It's just a moniker.

I'm certain specific individuals, if calling for violence and repeatedly breaking the TOS have been banned.

The GOP as a whole hasn't been banned. Republicans as a whole haven't been banned.

Well, actually you can. If I owned a shop and you came into it spewing vitriol and racism over the tannoy I'd be well within my rights to ask you to leave.

You do not have the inherent right to use a platform. You agree to their terms and abide by them, or you get banned.

You're doing it again, acting as if the last thing was the only thing.

Trump has been dodging normal banning rules on Twitter for years because Twitter felt uncomfortable applying them to the president.

So no, it's not the last tweet he made, the last two tweets, one incident, it's been overdue for years and the drama at the capitol was the last time they felt like holding the toilet roll while Trump took a ****.

Trump is perfectly capable of doing it himself, got his own room and everything.

BLM is definately not *just* a moniker. https://blacklivesmatter.com/

A lot of the hubbub around this is due to a perceived lack of consistency. The more conservative demographic is confused as on one hand you have those on the more radical left pushing to get cake shop owners bankrupted then on the other hand say "oh no, it's fine that this private business refuses to do business with X.". Regardless of legal details, it's a pretty understandable viewpoint.

But if you said racist things to me can I get the whole Parler shopping centre closed down because of one racist shop owner? That is ridiculous. But that is what happened.

No it isn't.

In this scenario Amazon are the shopping centre (server), Parler are the shop (website) and parler users are the racist customers.

Amazon have basically said stop serving racists or you can't rent space from us anymore.

You can if you own the land the Parler shopping centre was built on.

But not all Parler customers are racist, but they just yeeted the whole platform. There is racism on Twitter, just the right kind of racism that Big Tech suddenly becomes blind to.

It's quite clearly selective enforcement, pretty darn difficult to deny this. I think some people are just ok with this but also, they are a private company so they can do what they like it, it seems.

The whole concept of the platform was to have a place to air views that wouldn't be tolerated on more mainstream platform. This is a self-selecting group who are much more likely to have extreme views.

Hello there, I took my time to view jsmokes previous video evidence on election fraud, every one he posted.

All of them were like this as I predicted before viewing this one and I wasn't a big fan of the pointing at a TV screen and making unprovable claims back then either.

Since then a massive amount of investigation was done and despite the president throwing legal teams and money at it the election fraud claims were dismissed as garbage.

If you expect credibility then bring evidence that isn't someones imagination and a blurry screen.

I was talking about the encroachment of big tech. I haven't watched the video you mention. But it shows you have an open mind when viewing things you have questions about.

@Colonel_Klinck in a previous post you said you visited the Parler site. I hope that you didn't have to put your phone number in to make an account? as it looks like that information as been made publically available.

My number is already public but I never posted there.

I used it for a year, but like Twitter never post just view. And never saw anything I would consider extreme, just different opinions from the MSM. The problem is now, it will force those from Parler to Gab. And Gab I fear is even more extreme and a place I don't want to go to.

Indeed, they mostly peaceful protest, mostly...

Not just peaceful, but fiery and peaceful.

This forum has a set of rules, you aren't forced to use the forum.

Break them you get banned.

Exactly the same principle as Twitter and Facebook.

it has nothing to do with authoritarianism, it is terms and conditions.

Simple.
