@paul just go for hyperpro progressive springs, new seals n oil,or new OEM springs if the price is right

Did you hit any potholes recently?

Nah no big ones, nothing more than usual, but there are a couple of bumps on my commute where they've laid pipe or something and re-tarmac'd a section across the road about a foot wide, and its not yet been flattened down by the cars. But I don't break hard much at all on the bike, maybe once or twice per journey, so i think it was just it's time.

The priority is to get the seal done but that won't be until the weekend. The guy who did my seals on the varadero for £50 has moved but he's not that far away. The front suspension has never been great on the bike and after 15 years and 33000 miles the springs are probably getting pretty tired now.

Yeah they will be,mines had it aswell I wish I'd have stuck some hyperpro springs in mine when I changed the oil,I know shaken has some and rates them highly

They tend to pogo a lot if worn

The seller has to state if its a cat c/d when selling, costs nothing to go and look at it

I'm guessing front end swap n rear shock swap is just to improve the handling?

Private sellers don't only trade sellers must declare it, private sellers just can't lie if asked.

Talking about excess mine with MCE on my last policy was £1050

That has reminded me to check if I still have excess protection insurance.

yeah i'd be giving that SV a wide berth IMO.

Just gave that SDOC100 gel cleaner a try on my forks and one side of my swingarm, my god it's good!

There was a patch on my swingarm directly in the firing line from the rear sprocket, which was BLACK. It had been there for at least 3-4 months, and would not budge. 10 minues of SDOC100 and a quick wipe down and it just wiped off :D I have a very clean side of my swingarm now, shiny alloy haha :D oh and a clean front wheel and forks :D

I can imagine keeping a nice bike clean with this stuff would be effortless, and even my bike (which is properly dirty) would be pretty clean after a bit of elbow grease to get the stubborn stuff removed.

Now to find somewhere that has the hyperpro springs in stock for delivery before the weekend...

It is good stuff, been using it since day 1 with this bike. :D

SDOC on bits that can be difficult/awkward, wash off, meguiars soap all over, rinse & dry.

If you use it on the whole bike, it isn't going to last very long but you only really need it for the more difficult bits (basically the bits that get the most dirty - radiator, around the chain area, etc.).

Sdoc is the dogs danglies!

Sportsbikeshop or demon tweaks will get them there for the weekend if they do your model.

Yeah they're the bits on my bike that get caked in crap - rear swingarm and sprocket, forks and front calipers, and wheels and rear shocks. All tricky little bits with skin gouging nooks and crannies too. I can see why it needs a jet wash to rinse off though, it sticks to the bike quite well.

sportsbikeshop don't have mine listed, demon tweeks I'll have to call tomorrow, and calsport stock them but delivery not until march 10th on ebay (so not something they keep in stock by the look of it). That's what you get with a rare bike/import. :(

I'm waiting until the cold weather has stopped before washing mine properly, cover in salt from the ride home tonight :(

Was -3 this morning riding to work! :p

I've got hyperpro springs on mine, didn't even realise it wasn't standard! No complaints.

I find the salt eats into any exposed aluminium or metal fasteners though, they just feel rough after, pays to wash it off as often as you can through the winter time

I did notice watching a couple of youtube vids that to change the springs is a lot easier than changing fork seals, so might get a set after I've had the seal done. Might look at a set of rear springs too as mine are corroding pretty bad.

You might as well let them slide the new springs in when they do the seals, its a hassle to get it all apart again just to slide old springs out new ones in
