Five of us (well, 6 including the pillion) rode up to Rutland Water. Some great roads around there actually. Beautiful day, just about the right temperature as long as you can keep moving.

4th is my new favourite gear. Can't believe how much power this KTM has, even at high speed. 3rd I had the front wheel up, powering after my mate and then into 4th I could feel the front wheel skipping about. Amazing. Was gradually getting a bit more confident in the bends too. Great days riding. Was a shame to get home and find my Dashcam had become disconnected when I fit the US10 to the back seat before setting off! :(

Get your chest down close to the tank when accelerating hard to stop the front wheel lifting. It makes a huge difference even on bikes with monster torque.

Yup, I think that's what I was doing in 4th and could feel how light the front was still. I might not have been though. Sometimes I would remember to lean, others I forgot.

I still don't really know how well I can trust the anti wheelie. I only really fully open the throttle in 3rd and above and each time the wheel has left the ground, instinct in me has meant I roll off a little.

I guess I need to do it on purpose and concentrate on fighting reflex... and have the balls to keep it pinned... see what happens.

Does anyone know, at what point should it kick in?

The anti-wheelie works really well on the KTMs and really flatters the rider.

It limits how high the wheelie can go and brings it down gently for you too. All you have to do it keep the bars straight when the front wheel touches down and not chop the throttle.

If your traction control is on then it seems to limit the wheelie height to a few inches from what I can see. It feels like 3 feet though!

Ha ha, yeah, always feels like you're going over backwards, in actual fact no-one else would notice!

Okay thanks, next time I'm out, I'll give it a better test :)

Looks like I haven't lost it after the lowside :p

You could get a whole drumstick in that chicken strip! :p

I'm finding it difficult to lean far enough safely on my Tuono on the street without going silly speeds.

I blame the massive rear tyre as it was so easy to clean the Street Triple in comparison.

Haha I know I know, the problem is having no twisty roads unless you travel 2+ hours to find them, living in a city is *****.

I find the roads here are more slightly curved rather than bends, so I can never lean right over as there's no actual bend to go around.

It's a lot colder today too, 10'c here, dropped down from 22'c yesterday, no sun, cloudy and it looks like it's about to rain.

Need to clean my bike too, only cleaned it once so far and it's filthy.

I only have left front to finish, I know a good fast corner.

My tyres had smaller strips than that after 50 miles on new tyres... Lets see left strip @Clov!s

This roundabout isn't round, has 2 sharp apexes and if you miss it you won't scrape your knee. :p
sorry for the potato quality, no one knows how to compress and upload files it seems...

I need a different bike, my suspension is too soft... look at the headlight how it bounces. Nearly lost it twice yesterday, not because I was doing something wrong, but the suspension was giving up. :(

I've only ever wheelied(sic) small stuff, but once you get that balance point, it's a moment of pure glory. It's hard to explain. You spend days, weeks, months, pushing a little bit further, and then a bit more, and then a bit more, and every time you bottle it because you're about to mash your arse in to the asphalt, when all of a sudden you feel it. It's that amazing feeling of paying off after being patient and taking it easy. Then learning to dance around it is the next part and without doubt the hardest one. Practice makes perfect though.

Obviously those who just pin the throttle and lift like a hoon are the ones with metal plates where their arse cheeks used to be, so don't be that guy :p

I hit a balancing point yesterday and got a bit too excited... I was holding it, but than a roundabout was coming up, so I had to slam it down and go hard on the brakes... :(

I'm only kidding about the strips as mine are bad at the moment too :p

It's 26C here today, but I don't fancy taking the bike out.

The smoother you ride the less work your suspension has to do.

Would you risk using a 13mm Pragmasis chain on your bike? I use a 19mm Almax at home, and 16mm at work, but even the 16mm with lock comes in at 13+ kg's - which is a bit too much for my tail pack.

I'm looking for something which offers some protection, and is carriable. Mainly for the gym / climbing centre lock up etc.

It doesn't matter what chain you use, if some scum bags want your bike then they will take it.
Take a chain that you can comfortably carry.

Liner springs set to your weight and decent fork oil, problem solved.
