This is why I've left my bike key on with my other keys. Yes, it's leaving some marks on the area around the ignition, but I know it would only be a matter of time before I left the bike key in the ignition. Harder for me to do when it's my main bunch of keys. (Although worse if I still did it I guess!)
My bike keys so ignition, bike locks, gate padlock plus my usual bunch of house keys would be far too big for me to be happy to have bouncing about plus I don't want my bike keys on me when I'm not on the bike. Along with the fact this only seems to be happening when I pop into a shop so it would make no difference anyway, I'd just lose all my keys if someone nicked it :D

Mine had bike, two padlocks, disc lock, two front door, back door and garage door key... As I say, it's the lesser of two evils for me.

I wouldn't be comfortable treating a brand new bike like that. I'd make sure I buy second hand if I know for sure I'm going to damage it.

My bike has kind of got keyless... I can remove the key while the bike is still on and it keeps running :p

You could probably start it with a biro too the barrel is so worn :D

Maybe if you plebs bought bikes with keyless start this wouldn't be an issue.

Wouldn't need it if I was riding something of your liking, I could pick it up and run with it just as fast :p :D

Haven't ridden the bike in a few weeks but had to cane it up the A1 to Peterborough services last night because my mate's an idiot and required me. The thing I love about motorbikes is that you can have a budget 600CC and still have a blast and a really nice ride, even if it is just the A1.

That's clever though, so many times on rides I've seen people not turning off their indicators after doing a maneuver...

would it be legal to overtake one when on blues and too's?

Yes it is legal to overtake as long as you follow the normal rules re speed and if its safe to do so etc etc etc. But as The Abyss pointed out above do it carefully as they may not be paying to much attention to vehicles approaching them from behind.

And no ambulances aren't restricted or at least they never used to be. My dad was a Paramedic on the London Ambulance Service for 29years and have heard a lot of stories from him and his mates over the years :)

I have even overtaken Police vehicles on Blues and Two's as they were travelling way below the speed limit on a Dual Carriageway, (no it wasn't a rolling roadblock as they never left the nearside lane), I approached carefully and with plenty of room and as I got level with it the driver just smiled at me and waved me on :) the queue behind them was stupid as no-one else was prepared to overtake a Police vehicle......

The ambulances may not be restricted, but I believe a number of trusts now won't support speed limit exemption claims if caught going more than a set amount above speed limits or outside of guidelines. Which is why you won't often find an ambulance doing more than 80mph on the motorway, as they'd be on the hook personally for any speeding fines if they go above 80 (or whatever limit has been set by the trust).

Totally understand, but as I say, it's still my preference to having it stolen because I left my key in it...

I'm kinda hoping I can simply replace the guard around it without too much trouble at some point.

Talking of keys we used to have key attached to a clip which was attached to the handle bar bolt the reason was many moons ago we used to pull up beside each other at the lights and throw each others keys on the road just before the lights changed.
