Getting quoted between £700-950 to service my Stree Triple 765 for its 24k mile service.
Jaysus, think Ill do most of it myself then ask them to do the bits I cant. (ala the valve checks)

The valve check is the big bit, I think it's a full day book time basically.

Bike ticked over to 30K last night. It's getting to be middle aged.

Had it since 1K miles, and wasn't really meant to keep it this long, but she's never let me down.

I passed my CBT today. A couple of people on the course failed, they just couldn't get the hang of it for some reason.

It wasn't as easy as I thought it would be, but once I'd got the gears down I was generally ok. I wasn't very good at U turns though.

I absolutely loved riding out on the roads. Shame the weather was so rubbish, but I certainly got a feeling for how fun this can be.

Shame I can't afford a bike!

The weather is getting warm enough that I'd like to get out for a blast, just need a good one day of torrential rain to wash all the grease and grit off the roads first.

Very much depends on the bike I guess.

My SV650 was well overdue, I think about 35k when I got them to check those, they said they were bang on, and basically it wouldn't be worth ever bothering again.

Low tuned engine though.

Was out yesterday and my speedo had stopped working. A quick check and I found the cable drive had snapped. Got a replacement coming from WeMoto easily enough, but I was hoping to get out today with the weather being nice :(. Oh well - hopefully it will arrive next couple of days or so :)

Pulled the cover off for the first time in weeks, I know the battery's dead (properly dead, beyond salvation) so I jumped it and rode off to my local workshop to order a new one. On the way home I went for a bit of scenic ride through Richmond Park, then popped in at Asda for a few bits. Walked outside, jumped the bike again, it revved to the moon so I panicked a bit (my helmet was on the throttle) and it died. Tried to jump it again, dead. Dead as a doornail. Half an hour of faffing, disconnecting and reconnecting the battery and the jump starter, phone calls to the bike shop, googling stuff, etc. Eventually the bike shop says they'll send their van in about 40 mins, so I carry on messing around. Eventually I got it going.

I'd only bumped the killswitch in my panic

I kind of had similar many many years ago. Riding on the bypass and I pull away rather rapidly from a roundabout when all of a sudden the bike dies. I'm looking around at everything trying to figure out what's going wrong but it's getting dark and I'm parked at the side of a busy road. Had to walk 5 minutes to the local McD's and use a payphone (I did say it was many years ago :D) to call my dad. He got a mate out in a van and we recovered the bike back home.

The next day I'm poking around in my bike shed having a look at things when I noticed the killswitch had flipped. I somehow must have hit it accelerating away from the roundabout

Just ride it without?

I rode a bike for about 6 months without a working speedo, doesnt clock up the miles either :)

I did go out in the end, but didn't really feel comfortable without a speedo tbh. It's all sorted now though!

Did the chain and both sprockets on the bike today - was easy enough to do!

Well crap. The green battery light on my heated grips has been blinking last few rides. Popped a meter over the battery and its showing between 12.2 and 13.2 volts. Thought I'd chance it today, stopped mid ride and sure enough, went to start her, and *click*......
Got a mate coming out to give me a jump later, ctek mx5 on order then I guess I need to trouble shoot why she's not charging.
Also, rear shoe is seriously wanting to bind on..... just need to find more than 5 minutes of spare time to diagnose and repair.... sigh!

EDIT: Well the jump start didn't work, the bike just clicks, so new plan is to take a van out tomorrow to recover the old girl back home and troubleshoot from there. Double sigh!!! lol

Well, I *think* I might have discovered why the old girl wasn't charging.......or why the starter wouldn't turn......lol

Yeah, that's ****ed!!!

New alternator rotor £190 new stator £85 New gasket £12 Oil and oil filter change £45 plus then fitting on top, plus whatever is wrong with the rear brake! Oh well :/

My lad’s KTM would do that all too regularly. Dirt and water were somehow getting through the gasket. I eventually checked the cover to find that it was warped to **** and was letting in everything. Might be worth a check.

Unless, is that oil in there?

No, there should be 6 magnets stuck to the alternator rotor instead of 3 whole ones and 3, easy to assemble, 4000 piece kit form ones.......oil in the alternator housing on these is fine!
