If you're using motorways remember to wiggle your toes every now and again to stop them going to sleep as you'll hardly be using the gear shift or rear brake. Apart from that not really it's just another ride regardless of length.

Shall keep that in mind. Think I'll bring a earplug and headphone in one ear with me to make the journey tolerable.

Bristol to Cornwall isn't a long journey!! :p

What bike are you on? There's some cracking roads if you want to take the scenic route, A39 over exmoor to bideford, the the A386 to the A30, then onwards from there.

Ha, it is only 180 odd miles from where I am to St Austell but it'll be the longest journey I've done. I'll check out the roads you said. I often use the A38 which seems to just go on and on and on and on.... BUT there is only 2 speed cameras on the way to where i need to go. Not that I ever speed...

I'm sure it'll be fine. But everywhere says supersports are terrible for 'long' distances

You'll be fine, the position on my SV probably isn't quite as extreme as the R6 but I done 5 hours through Wales a month or so after passing with no breaks and apart from being a little stiff after unfolding myself once I got to the B+B I was perfectly fine while actually riding.

You're on an R6 right?

This is the route I'd do https://www.google.nl/maps/dir/51.4816991,-2.7009477/St+Austell,+Saint+Austell,+Cornwall,+UK/@50.7293532,-4.4618876,9.5z/data=!4m39!4m38!1m30!3m4!1m2!1d-3.6094373!2d51.203891!3s0x486dda295ec793fb:0x2e2556c71db95e9e!3m4!1m2!1d-3.8018065!2d51.2189965!3s0x486dd467a5a36319:0xd5c801387659ceac!3m4!1m2!1d-3.9924539!2d51.1519099!3s0x486c2e57eaede97f:0x6b792c9aa466e5d0!3m4!1m2!1d-4.1997599!2d51.0024307!3s0x486c3e69d21ca103:0x79a0c4889ccad281!3m4!1m2!1d-4.0278041!2d50.7534189!3s0x486c5ae98618ea39:0x9b949a1c5c385b98!3m4!1m2!1d-4.1084186!2d50.4358843!3s0x486ced7b633dfec7:0x1c7fbfa34d31d40d!1m5!1m1!1s0x486b402d27f80663:0x67ab6620adf12488!2m2!1d-4.7834252!2d50.3403779!3e0?hl=en after a quick check, not much boring motorway. Of course it'll take much longer than doing M5/a38 but it'll be a darn sight more entertaining!

This is the A39 looking down towards lynmouth on the exmoor coast

Motorway/DC is more tiring than doing A roads, on the motorway you're stuck in one position, not moving around on the bike etc, whereas on A roads you'll be moving on the seat, doing 60mph sometimes then 30mph through villages, so you'll be changing seating position more.

Pulled the first wheelie on my GSX650 this morning, unintentionally.
I was on the slip road joining the A1 but everyone was in the left lane and didn't move out, even though could easily have!
I almost rolled to a halt then saw a gap, the car flashed to allow me on and i just went for it.
Didn't know the girl had it in her :D

That, along with having a clear and dry road straight off a roundabout on the A1 coming back last night, where i hooned it....straight passed a police car on the other side of the road. I'm going to take it easy for the rest of the week, just in case.

That's good,I felt guilty recommending them but mine was perfect

@jungliste,I think you'll still feel fatigued, esp as your not used to long distances on those style of bikes yet, mainly your wrists, small of your back and backside, but you'll get used to it

I've been without my bike for almost 5 days now. Feels like a life time.

Riding down to Cornwall soon though. Any tips for long journeys? if the weather is rubbish I'll drive down but would like to ride, just don't know how it'll feel on my wrists after 3 hours.

Don't be a woman. Nick Sanders did round the world on an R1 :D

At 6'2 I find nearly all bikes that aren't adventure style like the GS uncomfortable for long distance, my legs start to ache after an hour on sportsbikes, even things like the Street triple and SV I found uncomfortable after about and hour and a half, just the leg and seat position is not setup for lanky gits :p

I'm 6'1 and my Speed Triple is pretty comfortable over long distance, seems to be a really good size for me. I can lean my shins on my foot pegs with my legs stretched out as well which is good (if that makes sense :p).

With you on that, at 6'3 myself - although I've done 400 mile 10 hour days on my little CB with my legs folded as much as a sportsbike - I don't think I could handle that on a sportsbike though, my back would be in agony.

The street triple and SV are small bikes though to be fair.

They've arrived.
