I paid about £260 for all my carbon, all bar the wind deflectors are proper Aprilia Racing stuff and managed to get the Ohlins Rear Shock for about £240.

It might be worth looking around as the non factories can be had for a bargain

Chris

Apparently just the long carbon bellypan on the tuono factory is/was £600 new for the genuine Aprilia one, and they're rare as hens teeth used, going for £200-300...

If I can get get a factory for the right price it'll be worth it, obviously if a mint non factory appears locally and at a decent price it'd be wrong not to have a look :)

Are they the ultra lows?

Will you be drilling the holes for the lugs on the switch gear or filing them down?

Hair spray is the adhesive of choice by many people. Do not use super glue

File them down a bit, if they move... I'll put a bit of foil under. I'm scared the aluminium will crack, when I was making speaker stands as for my final assignment I've used a mixture of different metals, wood and plastic. The aluminium cracked twice...

I contacted Renthal direct and they recommended not to drill but to think they are just saying that to cover their backs Incase or any accidents!

I filed mine too, I tried foil but didn't work so just packed it with tape, they are now rock solid.

The argument is the brake and clutch levers are clamped without lugs so there is no issue having the switch gear on secure without lugs

Everyone will have their own opinion on this though ;)

I drilled my old rentals on the GSX. Didn't go right through as the switchgear only needed small dimples. No problems to report.

If it doesn't work, I'll use duct tape. WD40, Duct Tape and Hammer always come in handy. :D

Edit My Renthals are the Ultra Low's in black, bought off demon tweeks via ebay as it worked out nearly 10 quid cheaper than if I was buying from their website.

Poor ducks, that's animal cruelty!

Use duct tape instead ;) :p

Same place I got mine from the too :)

I got some renthal hand grips glue when I got them from demon tweeks, only a couple of quid with no complaints here.

Bike had its first MOT in my ownership, and it sailed through with the only advisory "exhaust slightly noisey".

She does well for a 53 plate

The weather is so good for riding today, when the wind stopped a bit it was warm. 1st day of spring and it feels like it might be getting warmer and warmer now. :D

Mod 1 training on has ruined the fun of my 125. The Gladius 650 I rode on for a few days was decidedly average (and too small!) but it was nice to have more power when needed.

I have been having fun on the 125 by practicing clutchless upshifting. Can out accelerate most things from the lights using it.

I'm itching for a bigger bike now :(

If I remember correctly the Gladius has the same engine as the SV? If so, I don't blame you, the low down torque is fun. :D Too much throttle and it wheelies :p

I think it has! Low down torque was nice, if you throttle it you could feel it pull at your shoulder sockets as you accelerated away. It was very easy to control too - although the engine felt a bit vibey doing slow speed stuff.

The carb version of this engine vibrates more than the fuel injected. The IL4 is most likely a lot easier to maneuver at lower speeds, the torque and engine braking of the V-Twin can be harsh sometimes.

I didn't notice any difference between the carb and FI SV650's except the carbs had way better throttle response.

The vibrations were identical, and any difference you notice will probably be down to age rather than FI vs carbs.

Brand New Hamicad tail tidy for my SV :D (These are so rare and hard to find! ;o)

Managed to pass my Mod 1 today with 1 minor, glad that's over and done with I feel much more confident about doing my Mod 2 than I did the Mod 1, though I'll probably end up failing that now instead :p

Got my fork seal driver and hex bits delivered today, all balls fork seals and paddock stand being delivered tomorrow. A quick trip to halfords to get a 1/2" to 3/8" adapter for my impact gun and I'm all set for the weekend :D
