Cheers chaps, gonna be interesting to see how this affects my insurance!

Anyone going to Brighton Mod Weekender this weekend?

Went to the Wednesday Rykas meet last night, and boy it was warm and busy. Some absolute nutters out and 0 plod seen.

Fun fact, the Rykas logo consists of the first letters of all motorcycle brands. My riding instructor pointed this out :D

Mods.... pfff.

Rykas - Nice idea, but missing a few essentials... Honda, Triumph, Ducati... to name a few!

Urgh - bloody jinxed the Z
Another running issue. Here's what I've done so far:
Poor revs top end - petcock filter was blocked and vacuum pipe actuator was perished - cleaned filter, replaced vacuum hose. Carbs cleaned, floats checked. All good for a bit
Then poor low end running - plus, leads and caps replaced, carb balance checked and adjusted, ran better for a bit
Now: When getting up to high revs in high gears, it's almost like the ignition is being turned on and off really rapidly, bike bucks and jerks and backfires, and the rev counter fluctuates wildy up and down.....really at a loss with this one.
1991 GPZ500S
Any ideas? Can't get rid as it was my mate's old bike and he's no longer with us so it has a lot of sentimental attachment! Starting go bit a little fed up though - I just want to ride the bloody thing, not keep fixing it lol!

Fuel starvation of some description?

I wish, the thing is going to be street parked so it needs to be something a bit undesirable at the moment, plus I want to do a proper Euro tour with 'er on the back so it'll be something big, comfy and wafty most likely!

Hmm - ty for the suggestions. So, I checked the wiring to both the coils. They weren't loose, but they weren't tight so splipped the spade terminals on and off a few times, then made sure they were snugged up. Also nipped up the HT lead screws from where I replaced the HT leads. Test-ride. Flipping perfect. lol At least it's sorted,................for now...........!!
Didn't replace the coils, they seem to be about £40 each, so will see if the above sorts it for now.

Rode to Brighton on Saturday for, me on the Aprilia and her on her Vespa. It was raining, cold, windy and just generally crap. Stayed the night and rode back yesterday, she hated it, constantly worried she would fall. Don't think she'll be wanting to do any trips on her Vespa again.

It's a shame, but I'm still pretty proud of her for doing it!

I remember a few years ago when I met up with my brother for the first time after we both had bikes. It was dry but bitterly cold (November I think). We were both frozen and miserable when we eventually met up after a couple of hours ride each.

We found a coffee van and sat there on a bench looking at each other, both shaking uncontrollably with the cold, desperately hugging our warm coffee cups and thinking "what the **** did we just do that for in November?"

But it was funny looking back at it.

Has anyone ever bought a Cat N write off before? If yes, anyone used Motomine from the popular auction site? I've been following their completed listings and did a bit of market research, the prices the bikes sell for taking into account they've a Cat N and need parts which aren't cheap. It doesn't seem feasible to go through the hassle, when for a few hundred more you can get a HPI Clear bike which is not only easier to resell, but there's no hassle involved with repairing it.

Still hankering for something lighter and less serious, than an S1000R, for my B road blasting - I popped in 5o look at the 890R again today with my Daughter.... now I have a full trade in and cost breakdown to swap over to a new one; leaving less than 4k to pay.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm........
