Peugeot's new scoot looks pretty decent too, not sure I could justifly £7450 on a scooter though.

Then again, spoked wheels.

Dammit.

I like that a lot. Spoked wheels and gold forks :)

Off to see this tonight (organised by Motolegends in Surrey). I got a newsletter from them saying there were a few tickets left. So it was a too good to miss impulse booking. Ted is the rider and author of Jupiter's Travels for those that don't recognise his name. He toured the world on his Triumph Tiger in the 1970's, way before the current youtube trend of motorcycle touring. It's an evening pub meal with a group of like minded bikers and Ted giving a talk on his experiences. I can't wait :)

In case anyone else is interested, is nearby and there are still tickets:

Good to meet you briefly yesterday @Hades

How was the talk?
Yep good to have a chat and your bike is gorgeous.

The talk was great. Ted didn't talk about the whole trip. I think he has been doing parts of the trip at different events. Last night was India. He had a few photos but this was before the era of the smartphone. So most of it was him talking about how he found the people, his route through India, etc. As he pointed out, in the 1970s India was far less modernised than it is today.

He's 92 now and the trip was 50 years ago, so this may be one of the last times he talks about it. It was a privilege to meet him. One sad part was that he was saying that even though he met up with his girlfriend at one point on the trip, his choice to travel solo to allow him to write the book was what eventually caused them to drift apart. I think he said her name was Carol. You could tell he had loved her all this time later. I had to leave after the talk to collect my son but if I had more time I could have sat and chatted to him for a longer.

The night was superb value. £40 which included a meal, a drink at the bar, coffee, a dessert, chatting to lots of other bikers and an hour and a half talk from an iconic guest speaker.

Oi, next time you lot have a little shenanigans toss us an invite

Was literally sat at home bored last night, would've been ace to meet you two.

Sorry Diddums! It was very last minute in fairness!

I filmed the ride and forgot to turn off the camera if you want to listen in to our conversation and feel like you WERE there. :D

Cheers dude!

Wow, 92 is some achievement! Especially for a biker! The world appears far more fragmented and radical than it was 50 years ago. It doesn't make much sense!

There's another adventurer who lives round these parts called Elspeth Beard, I think she was the first woman to navigate the globe on a bike. I've ridden past her house (water tower) a fair few times.

I've signed up to their newsletter now and might drop in on my lunch break today.

Sorry. I wasn't even aware of the event until a few hours before. Then we decided to meet up for 10 mins before the event. I will shout next time.
