Hurrah!
Nothing, I rode a few bikes, a Street Triple 675R, MZ ETZ251, CRF300M in Thailand and the Hornet 750 I passed on. I'm going to book some test drives and over winter start looking for a bargain, I keep an eye on a few bikes and they aren't selling, only prices are dropping.Well done dude! What are you riding atm? I know you had an SV650 for a bit, but an S1000RR is a lot of performance.
I've got a mate who passed his test last summer, sold his car and said the immortal words "I'll be riding all year round, I love it".I remember a few years ago when I met up with my brother for the first time after we both had bikes. It was dry but bitterly cold (November I think). We were both frozen and miserable when we eventually met up after a couple of hours ride each.
We found a coffee van and sat there on a bench looking at each other, both shaking uncontrollably with the cold, desperately hugging our warm coffee cups and thinking "what the **** did we just do that for in November?"
But it was funny looking back at it.
Congrats dude!!Passed, bye bye A2, hello A... Now the questions is R1 or S1000RR?![]()
I saw you passed too, congrats, what are you buying or bought? Sorry, I skim through the posts.
Thank youCongrats dude!!
I can see why people choose scooters over bikes in bigger cities, they're less of a faff in congested traffic and the storage is handy. Bike rental is expensive in the UK, I would go abroad, the saving will pay for the hotel/flights and you'll have a chance to explore a new place - 2 birds with 1 stoneCheers, not sure yet. I live and work in London so a scooter is pretty much guaranteed, looking at the Honda ADV350 at the moment. That said, I might hire a large bike in the coming weeks and see how I get on.
Oh yeah, I completely forgot about these, a guy at work has a NC750X I think.@Diddums would one of the Honda DCT gearboxes (basically an automatic/automated manual) help with getting a bike rather than a scooter?

NC750X DCT would be great for London traffic I think. Not quite as good as a scooter. But a fair compromise to get a bigger bike.Oh yeah, I completely forgot about these, a guy at work has a NC750X I think.

Both lovely machines. The AT is where my heart would be. But the ADV350 is a lovely machine and does seem perfect for what you need.Funny you should say that, here's the two next to each other

Had a poke around the ADV350 this morning and it's honestly perfect for my needs. Nice big sofa-seat, more storage than our Mini, loads of creature comforts, massively wide bars, it just felt perfect. And she felt comfy on the back too.
I've compared it to a TechMax 300, BMW C400, Forza 350 and a few others and this just trumps them all in one way or another. The only thing it's missing is the heated seat, as seen on the BMW.
A month lead time apparently, gives me a bit of time to spruce up the Vespa and Aprilia and sell them both.

Completely the right decision. If it wasn't a commuting bike this would be a very different scenario, but the practicality of a scooter with a massive (and I mean massive, two full face lids with loads of room to spare) storage box, phone cubby with charger and the CVT simply can't be beat in London.
I was actually talking myself in to the AT on the way home and my wife asked me a few questions which convinced me that the scooter is the better choice. I'm sure she had absolutely no agenda with her question obvs, but she made a lot of sense.
