Brand new series of "write off rebuilds" by Bike World with Chris Northover..

Chris seems like a top bloke, and what a cracking bike to start with - and for 3k, maybe I could get one and slap the engine into my single R

Hoping for a dry day this week, so I can give the girl a wash, proper minging after riding this past month

Well, after a fortnight of fighting off the usual lowballers, swops 4 xbox m8, absolute retards and general timewasters on FB Marketplace, this afternoon a nice young chap came to see the Aprilia with his dad, really polite young man, had a chat, asked a few questions, and he paid a deposit, coming to pick it up on Saturday. I had it listed for £2250, eventually settled on £2k (my limit was £1.9k) so really pleased with it, and moreover, it's going to a decent young man who looks like he'll really enjoy it, rather than some deliveroo rider who's just going to abuse it. Really chuffed with that!

Nice one. It reminds me of when I sold my YBR 125 after I passed my test. It was a similar situation with a dad bringing his son to see it. Two lovely people. I was happy it was going to a good home. They also got a good bike because I was quite fussy when I had bought it.

As someone else mentioned... hookers and blow!

My hands/fingers have been getting pretty bad recently (Reynaud's :'( ) so I finally bit the bullet and picked up a pair of Rev'Its Liberty H20. I must say I'm impressed. Not hot so your hands get sweaty, but enough to keep the chill at bay, esp with wind chill soaking away the heat. These combined with my heated grips on both bikes work really well for me. In fact, I went out this afternoon with fingers that were already cold/numb and wearing these actually reverted it (normally never happens until I get home and thaw out my fingers for half an hour or so) so I'm really pleased. Just need them to bed in a bit and they'll be ace! Not cheap though, but worth it for me for sure!!

Absolutely freezing out on the bike but I’d rather that than sitting at home just looking at it.

Think my feet were cold before I’d even pulled off my drive yesterday, still managed to stay out for 3 hours though.

I got a good ride in too - probably ~4 hours or so. Chilly, but the roads were dry for the most part. Gloves held up a treat. Just in jeans and a super light-weight fleece under my jacket - haven't resorted to the liner for the jacket nor the lined textile legs yet!! Great to be out on the ZX-9R around the North Norfolk Coastline. Happy days! Crap weather tomox though :'(

Well I seem to be developing a friendship with the kid who bought my scooter. He couldn't wait until Saturday so I left work an hour early yesterday and we did the formalities. He then sent me a message on FB thanking me again for the bike and telling me how nice it rides, I told him next time I'm out and about I'll give him a shout and we can go to Ryka's or something. Today I get a message on FB telling me that he went to Ryka's, saw loads of bikes and enjoyed it. He'd never even heard of it before. I love meeting nice people, and seeing an 18yo so polite and well raised really restored my faith in humanity a bit. I reckon we'll be going on rides together at some point, proving that bikers can overcome any gaps, even an 18 year age gap

Must admit Ive been doing more looking at it than riding for the last few months

I got caught out in the rain yesterday, checked the weather app and it said no rain, double and triple checked, I was out no more than 10 minutes before i got soaked
I've pretty much given up on weather apps now - Accuweather really isn't, xcweather, Google's own one.... They often say "yes this ride will be glorious", and 30 minutes later you're regretting not wearing textiles.

The Wife's iPhone weather app seems the most accurate, but I'm not swapping to that phone camp, just for one app

I use the Apple weather app, even the met office app was saying dry :p

Have my theory test booked for the 17th and looking to book my cbt, most local trainers appear to want you to have your own lid, jacket and boots which makes sense so I need to go shopping. As a tall person at 6 2, and size 12 feet, how are my odds of rocking up to a local store and finding what I need easily so I don’t need to waste time/effort/money with online order returns.

Sports bike shop have always been good for price, quick delivery and easy returns. You could also find a local J&S accessories to try, then depending on price buy from there or since you should know sizes by then you can order from SBS.

SBS is always my first port of call, free delivery, free returns for 365. I've had easily a grands worth of stuff sat in my house waiting to be returned for a month or 2 and no issues.

Unless you can get to an SBS store there's just no where that comes close to the selection of kit they've got. I'm a funny shape but in the opposite way 5'5 very broad and smallish but wide feet which makes finding any clothes especially stuff where the armour needs to sit right a proper pain in the arse but I think other than my Hood jeans everything else I've ever bought has come from SBS.

Hmm I could maybe get to the reading store easily enough but good to know regarding easy returns etc. I’ll use them to check prices against a local store so I can get a good feel for fit and then either haggle or order online if necessary.

My current thoughts are lid, jacket, trousers, boots and gloves. Anything extra needed or on what items are where to invest the most in to? I’m sure this is something that’s been covered plenty before but here I am anyway!
