Driving home on the A3 tonight, stuck in that ridiculous traffic because of the gas works, when I spot an OG fireblade stuck on the lame-ass strip of grass they call a hard shoulder. Heard the textbook starter motor whirr with the occasional pop from the exhaust. Really felt for the dude, i wanted to stop but it couldn't have been a worse spot. Eventually about half a mile up he comes filtering past, bike clearly not firing on all cylinders. Hope he got somewhere safe, that stretch is lethal for us meat pillows :(

Managed to get out on the KTM a couple days ago for a quick pootle about. The sun can't come soon enough. Spent most of last year fully suited but got the same 2 piece jacket as my 1 piece and a pair of jeans that zip to the jacket for meets so gave this setup a go also! As much as I love the 1 piece, it's not the best for standing around and talking to people!

Was looking at sportsbikes in-between jobs at work this morning after convincing myself the S1000R isn't fast enough and I need another 200BHP+ bike.
So I popped home and jumped on it for a quick hoon to remind myself of the power.
Now I reckon the bike knew I was thinking of trading it in, and when I stopped for fuel it refused to start, which was rather embarrassing to say the least (and nothing to do with the fact that forgot to put it on the Optimate )
There was a couple of bikers at the fuel station who tried to bump start it, but nope, not a chance, but I was a couple of miles from work so one the guys came out and we jumped it.
All charged up now and a battery check showed 100% health..

I've decided to keep it, but but but, I've got to find another exhaust as the Black Widow full system just sounds a bit crap :(

After trading my wife's Vespa in for my ADV350 I've always had a tiny bit of guilt in the back of my mind. The reason wasn't just for the money, she only did a few hundred miles on it and it was costing over a grand a year. Despite that, I've been keeping an eye on Dobles' website and it's still for sale. They marked it down a few hundred quid and I recently discovered that I do in fact get paid overtime so crunched some numbers and got some insurance quotes.

In the new place the quote came in at £158.

So naturally I drove to Dobles on the way in to work and bought it back. They're chucking in a service, L plates, and a few screws which were missing so it's not even cost me anything. I'll "work from home" one day next week when she's in the office to go and get it, stash it in the garage until the time is right and surprise her with it.

Made my day that has, she'll never admit it because that would mean she'd be wrong but I know she fell in love with that little Vespa and was a bit sad to see it go.

I'm genuinely chuffed to have her exact Vespa back. Not another one like it, or a newer one, her exact one.

I predict a few fun little rides together in summer

Can anyone recommend me some half-decent front and rear bike lights for my hybrid bike which I use for commuting to work please?
Rechargeable and small/light with a fair amount brightness would be ideal.

Many thanks

No because they generally come fitted when your bike has an engine, you want the lycra lot in the cycling forum :D

Any tips for a returning rider ? Not ridden since 1996 , but now bought all the gear minus a bike, midlife crisis in full swing.

Have some refresher training on Tuesday for a couple of hours , see how that goes.

Told her about it last night. She doesn't want it. So now I have to ring Dobles in the morning and cancel the sale /facepalm
That's a real shame. But I guess it's better for her to be honest. I hope she appreciated what you did though.

Same old advice as ever, just expect everyone else on the road is out to kill you.
Just more so these days.
Whats bike are you looking at?
Not sure, what the heart wants vs my wallet vs my aging joints are all very different things. Im still telling myself its got to be a sports bike but we'll see.

Last bike was a NS400R , but they are crazy money .. as are the Rgvs, tzrs etc. I'd love a Mc21 or mc28 Nsr250 but either crazy money or take a big risk at a still quite expensive 7,8 grand etc. And theyll probably be like a medival torture device.

Quite fancy a Vfr400 nc30 or Rvf Nc35 but still a lot of dosh for an older bike , but the idea of easing back in with 60hp appeals, plus hold value very well if i sell on.

Otherwise its something like a 3 to 4g Cbr600rr or maybe Zx6, R6 etc.

Was also looking at Triumph 650s 675s etc.

When I say looking , thats scouring Facebook, Ebay etc.
