Bikers Youtube thread

The front did, the rear looks okay. Just got the bike back, front wheel is bent, forks busted (duh), braided lines broken, sub frame got bits broken off. Rest looks okay ish, no obvious damage on the frame and amazingly none of the x4 crash bungs are damaged - no idea how that happened lol. It's currently in the garage with the front end suspended from the roof.

I'm going to leave it for a few days and let myself get better before I start working on it. Been a bit hazy at work today making lots of stupid mistakes, need a good nights sleep I reckon. Poor old Dad has suffered way more than me though, think the shock set in this morning and really upset him :(

In all fairness though I came off lightly, the poor girl that crashed in the pit lane and got air lifted to hospital died I read on the track day forums. Puts it into perspective really..

That's a classic highside - rear wheel lost traction, slid a looong way then gripped again flipping you off and sending the bike into a hugh tank slapper.

See the repsol blade at 54 secs - play at 0.25 speed - that is probably what happened to your bike, see how many times that thing cartwheels! Your bike is facing the wrong way a split second after it starts to go and is upside down the next split second.

The amount of force required to rip the front wheel off is immense - I'd be willing the bet the frame take a decent impact at sound point along the way

Check out Motoliners for getting wheels/discs straightened, they also do frames too but being in Kent thats gonna cost a fair amount to get there....

Yeah didn't look like you did anything wrong, not an aggressive turn in, bike looked stable from the camera just the tyre let go.

Cheers for the suggestion, the front wheel is certainly bent and has a small chip on the edge of the rim but I've re inflated it and it's not leaking. The discs I will probably just replace as they were getting close to bottom limit as it is. But if I can get the wheel fixed it would be great! Just need to get new forks, yokes, top bracket, and brake lines to get going I think, time will tell :)

words cannot describe just how stupid this guy is. Rejoining the track without looking over his shoulder and going straight onto the racing line.

there's a chap by me who straightens wheels,he did mine when I hit a kerb,it wouldn't hold air, they might fill in the chip with aluminium weld and grind it back

there's also a place that straightens forks, suppose its how badly they are bent

Im guessing the Forks are buggered guessing by how the fork ends are still attached to the front wheel but the Tube is nowhere in sight :D

Yeah the forks are snapped at the bottom of the tube so not much use! There is someone near me with some spare R6 parts although from an 07 so the forks are slightly shorter than the 08+ model but they have K-tech internals - he also has other parts I need like the sub frame and such so hopefully I can get most of what I need to get it going again and then have the frame checked.

Saw that earlier. Stock exhaust is quite nice, but it does sound like a bit of a dull bike. Baron von Grumble also said it was very easy to ride & I've read that in a few other places.

I love that crackle from the exhaust, it reminds me of my KTM whilst cruising on low rpms it gives you that pop/crackle every now and then.

I wonder why everyone says that this bike is so perfect in every detail making it too boring, surely if its that good it will have better sale figures than the GS and other adventures in that category? If I was an instructor I would consider this bike as my main, it would probably make my life a hell lot easier. When I did my CBT, I had a chat with the instructor which let me lift his VFR 1200 of the stand and sit on it, it was heavy! 500kg? I personally would hate to own/ride a heavy bike like that, it is probably great on the highway. But for riding around the town I bet its no fun, you would have to be skilled to filter something that big in busy traffic.
