I love that crackle from the exhaust, it reminds me of my KTM whilst cruising on low rpms it gives you that pop/crackle every now and then.
I wonder why everyone says that this bike is so perfect in every detail making it too boring, surely if its that good it will have better sale figures than the GS and other adventures in that category? If I was an instructor I would consider this bike as my main, it would probably make my life a hell lot easier. When I did my CBT, I had a chat with the instructor which let me lift his VFR 1200 of the stand and sit on it, it was heavy! 500kg? I personally would hate to own/ride a heavy bike like that, it is probably great on the highway. But for riding around the town I bet its no fun, you would have to be skilled to filter something that big in busy traffic.
Pure and simple, a lack of character. A bike can do everything amazingly well and be dead easy to ride, but apart from the speed - if it doesn't excite you, well...
Put it another way - would you rather have a bird that cooks brilliantly, does everything you want of her and never lets you down, but has zero personality... or would you prefer a woman who is maybe not the best at everything, still does things well, but makes up for it with a brilliant personality and keeps you on your toes rather than being boringly reliable?
And 500kg haha. A typical 125 weighs around 130-180kg, a normal 400/600/1000 will weigh around 180-220kg, the VFR1200 and other large touring 1200's are 220-270kg. You only notice the weight when stopped or moving the bike manually. Even at a few mph, all the weight is gone, in fact more weight means a more planted bike - less flighty, more stable, so actually easier to filter, if you can fit it through the gaps of course.
