Bikers Youtube thread

I want my 20 minutes back!

I quite liked some of BvG earlier videos, like the one where he rode to the european trackway in the snow, but his latest stuff is just dull - I think he's running out of material or is more worried about what his corporate sponsors think rather than just doing it for the love of it.

To be honest though I really don't get the whole VLOG thing - watching someone else biking is not what biking is about!

I watch baron but I also watch a lot of other motorbike vids which could be classed as 'vlogs' for instance cageron2wheels who does a lot of bike test rides (like the africa twin recently) and of course 44teeth which is baron and fagan's other channel does a load of brilliant bike reviews and stuff. I watch a few Aussie guys too, helps me get through the lean winter months :D

I make them but I don't watch them. I enjoy sharing this place with others but I'd rather be out there myself than watching someone else.

I'm no expert, but he didn't lean too much in either corners. He just sticked his leg out, if he leaned more he would have been fine surely?

I really want to do some trackdays once I get a bike, will definitely improve my riding and control of the bike at higher speeds.

The point of knee out/down is not to allow more lean angle, it's to allow for less lean angle in the same circumstances.

However, many people stick knee out wrong/for the wrong reasons/at the wrong time etc etc. He appears to be trying to twist his body, no notable body position change...the video quality is poor though and at some distance away. With regards to your comment though - Yes, it appears there was plenty of lean angle left in the bike. Maybe he target fixated, rolled off the throttle, felt he could turn the bike with weight transfer rather than counter-steering...who knows :( That's quite a bit of super-elevation on that road too, generally that would help you.

I've been in a near collision with a wall as a result of target fixation on a double apex (at much slower speeds mind). I actually had to tell myself to look where I wanted to bloody well go and PUSH THE DAMN HANDLEBAR.

Yer looks like going in a bit too hot on the wrong line and just saw the wall, fixated and well...

Can't believe he was conscious afterwards

There is a longer video of the accident elsewhere and it wasn't the guy who caused the accident that died it was another biker on the opposing carriageway who he hit when he 'flew' over the wall.

The longer video shows the other biker dead in the road, either way it was a fatality :(
