Bin men don't lift bags left outside the bin?

I'm surprised to hear others saying the bin men don't touch the bins unless the lid is fully closed. A relatively small bin with a 2 week collection period, absolute joke for the taxes.

It's a joke when we don't abide by the rules which have existed in most (if not all) areas for years, and then think their an exception because it's only a one off, or feel because they never knew what most people did that it's even more of a joke because they pay taxes and instead should be paraded above everybody else, except.. the majority of us pay taxes and follow the local council rules without problem.

Learn your lesson and move on? We all fall foul of how things work at times but we don't come to OcUK to cry like man babies about it. Back in my day there was no internet and adults didn't act like children the moment something didn't go the way they expected.

since i split up with my ex i don't even fill a bin in a week without recycling. but yeah recycle more very little needs to go in a normal bin anymore. my bigger problem is if i forget to put the recycling out and i have to do the walk of shame and put 4 weeks worth of bottles and cans out and have everyone on my road think it's 2 weeks worth :D it's not so bad anymore but once or twice it was awful lol

New Forest council here. We have to place all our bin bags on the pavement no wheelie bins yet but they are coming. Black bag for general waste and clear of recycling. Always fun when the neighbours don't want to get up early on a Friday and leave them out the night before for all the local mice, rats, cats and foxes to destroy the bags.

Good thing though is that the bin men aren't girlie and take anything left out it would seem. But given wheelie bins are coming I wait for this to be reserved.

You'll probably find that if you were to ring up the council and tell them that there are bags "on the public highway" they'll come collect them.

In other words... tell them bags have been fly tipped and they'll come back. Providing they aren't on your property there's no issues.

you mean apart from them going through it and if they can fond an address then fining him. sounds like a terrible idea.

Do you put identifiable information in your bins?

Not a terrible idea actually... this is something I was told by a manager at a council (off the record ofc). They can tell you to do one if you put out too many bags, but they'll have a duty to pick up rubbish which has been discarded illegally. Not saying the OP should do that just pointing out that it's a way around the system if the OP wants to fight petty with petty.

Yeah same here. With the recycling bin and taking more stuff to the recyling centre, our main rubbish bin is barely half full every fortnight.

Surprising how much stuff is recyclable.

We tear off every address and shred it before it goes into the bin.

Anything with a name or address on it gets shredded in our house. I don't understand why anyone would do differently, given how easy identify fraud is.

because its pointless. no one accepts an address label as proof of anything, and seeing as most people are on the open electroll register, a quick google can find most peoples address anyway.
far better off putting effort into secure and different passwords for every online account, as thats a far bigger target. yet again most people dont.

Happened to us at uni. Jump up and down on the rubbish bags to compact it. They spend more time trying to empty it then. If they want me to make their jobs more difficult its fine with me.
