Bit of a Rant about the benefit system

I hold a high level IT job in the city and you wouldn't be able to afford my skill set/level in a million years. Fortunately i have educated myself to post-grad degree level and have a decade of experience so i can command pretty much what i want on the job market, even when it was at its worst last year (i turned down a job offer last year because even through the pay was batter, it was a public job)

I will never be at the mercy of **** bosses like you

My arrogance meter is off the scale with that post.

I know you've had a disagreement, but ive been suspended for using lesser words, so id be careful :)

Hows this sound. It's a bit pie in the sky but mould it down a bit to fit:

We as a country buy/produce raw materials.
Have tiers of benefits claimants. Sit at home nobodies who have no intention have food, basic housing, basic clothing, basic entertainments paid for. Those willing to are employed with hands on training for manufacturing etc on better rates of benefits. The use of the manpower and profits gained offsetting the need to pay them to sit at home.

With this manpower and manufacturing capacity available we are able to produce and sell again increasing government coffers somewhat.

Not well thought out etc but I think the basic principle works.

I don't have a problem....idiot

It's scum like you that prey on the poorly educated and desperate that i despise, I wouldn't spit on you if you were on fire. It was in Advanced Information Techology, not english ;)

EDIT - Not angry, just that likes of Morlock wind me up proper. He practically abuses his employees.

This is the one topic that makes my blood boil......

I work on the outskirts of Rotherham (yes.. I know...) and have been into town a number of times of a lunchtime to do some banking/post office stuff and the number of scumbags I see sat drunk in beer gardens drinking and smoking fags is obscene (often with a moon-faced kid in a pram eating crisps and drinking a can of Relentless).

I work hard for a living and wish I could spend my afternoons getting drunk with my mates, but I can't. I need to work to pair my fair share of tax so I can enjoy the kind of benefits a functioning democratic society brings.

I have a sense of moral and social responsibility which these people clearly don't. IMO people without jobs should spend AT LEAST a full working week (37.5hrs) preparing for, and looking for jobs. There is no good reason they can't be investing that amount of time. If my job was under threat I'd spend a huge amount of my spare time outside of work looking for new employment or upskilling.

I saw a program recently called Benefit Busters and some fat chav **** had ending up giving birth to some kid (which had no chance) and subsequently claimed all sorts of benefits. She was £70k in credit card debt because she was buying flat screen TVs and going on posh holidays. She didn't work. She was a "DJ" by trade (?!) and was only willing to accept late night DJ work in pubs and clubs, but kept turning them down because as well as a wage they'd only pay for her taxi home from work and not into work?!

The lady at A4E who was trying to help her get work went through her monthly expenditure with her to try and get her debt down and identified areas she could save. One of these was Sky and internet which was pushing £80 a month! The A4E lady suggested cutting this back to Freeview or at least Sky without movies/sport and she was like "WHAT?! What do you expect me to do all day at home if I don't have Sky. I need Sky!"

I know. WHY. DONT. YOU. GET. A. *******. JOB? Or clean your house you dirty wench.

When she did eventually cut back a bit she was all like "it's really hard, I don't even think I'll be able to have 'oliday this year!" I must have missed something - since when was everyone in the country ENTITLED to a holiday?!

I can't stand the "state owes me a living/money" attitude.

/Rant

Mind me asking why you were at home?

Edit... Just read post in full... Self Employed.

Thumbs up to you!

Ha yea self emlpoyed and forced out of work while I recover from a operation :( sucks cos I want to be out earning! Luckily I do know a guy who has few bits I can do on my Karoo so brings in a few quid while I'm off

"If You Cant Feed Your Baby (Yeah, Yeah) Then Don't Have A Baby (Yeah, Yeah)"

Wonna be starting something, Michael Jackson.

Must admit that this is also a subject that annoys me. I'd just love to live the life of someone on benefits. I want to walk a day in their shoes. I need to know why they think they're better off claiming bens!

Your intellect doesn't tally with your claimed postgraduate status.

Do other countries have this problem? Anyone here from abroad like to comment?

We need to be harder on people.

In my opinion, a child should always be born with human rights, but as soon as a person reaches the age of 16 or 18 their human rights should be earned. If you act like carrion and feed off others hard work, behave like a scumbag, break the law or treat others with disrespect etc. you should expect harsh treatment.
