Black Adam (DC Movie)

The usual rule seems to apply, low 'critic' score means the movie is pretty decent.

It came out in the USA today.

They are 5 or 8 hours behind, depending on your location.

Do you seriously think at 10:53 a.m in the UK, when it's either 5:53 or 2:53 a.m. in the US, that many have genuinely seen it and rushed to rotten tomatoes to rate it?

These are all 'verified'

"It’s a great movie, better than whatever Marvel’s been puttin out" (5 stars)

"it's was good! can't complain" (5 stars)

"Not good movie but excellent rock!!" (5 stars)

"Far far better than M_SHE_U movies." (5 stars)

Do you understand what 'verified audience' score means on RT? Genuine question because it doesn't appear so.

Edit:
Also quite amusing that you were moaning about me knowing the post credit spoiler before watching the film and yet by going through the reviews you would have spoiled it for yourself "Why on earth would you ruin the post credit scene for yourself before watching the movie?" :D

The reviews I saw didn't contain spoilers to be honest.

The review headlines on most sites I read are mixed. Haven't read the actual reviews in detail, but it seems average, Which is fine for me.

Might watch it tonight. The bar for quality is quite low for DC, based on recent movies, so I'm sure I won't leave disappointed!

Here's what I thought.

First two acts I enjoyed, third

Hate skateboard kid and the justice people well apart from Dr Fate as PB is a really charismatic actor.

5/10 not terrible, just average :)

Black Adam/Shazam was created by a bunch of wizards who each gave him a specific gift. Modern Shazam, if I recall, was only given powers by that one wizard in the the subway. (I may have forgotten parts).

So is BA a more powerful version of Shazam?

Just back from it today and it was good. It's not End game Level but it was no where near as bad as some of the reviews made out.

Good news though this movie made Walter Hamada (DC movies CEO who canned Snyderverse) got sidelined and overruled by David Zaslav WB(CEO) because he wouldn't allow what Dwayne wanted. Let's just say Dwayne got his way and now that's opened the door for what most of the fans have been waiting for.

From the comics BA is the first champion of the Wizards. So each his powers is the arconym of Shazam. Cap Marvel (Shazam) has the exact same powers. So despite the council being diluted, his powers aren't any less is my understanding.

Difference is BA doesn't hold back and has no issues killing which is what got him removed as the champion.

All I want or expect of comic book movies is for them to be a fun time, recent marvel p4 releases and the bulk of DC stuff havent been so as long as it's fun I'll enjoy it. I'm actually going to see it on Sunday (only be the 2nd time I'm going to the cinema this year, 1st one was The Northman)

Imo it's better than any Phase 4 Marvel TV series if that helps you. One gripe I got though the original BA cut was R-rated and WB changes to PG-13. :(

Would not mind watching the original cut with full fat violence.

That's not a particularly high bar :D Maybe the R-rated version will get an HBO release.

If what the rumors going around are true, there may be a "directors" cut release later that's rated R when it goes to online or physical media that has the cut material restored.
