Black Adam (DC Movie)

That's not a particularly high bar :D Maybe the R-rated version will get an HBO release.
It's been stated in interviews that there was a lot of stuff cut from the movie, so that it would have its PG-13 (USA) / 12A (UK) age rating. that there is either a completed version of the movie that is r-rated or enough stuff on the chopping block to make a r-rated version. weather they release r-rated version of it, is a completely different question altogether.

Given how The Rock tends to react and listen to the fans, it's possible (although certainly not a certainty) that he'll push for a separate R rated version that'll be available to obtain when the theatrical release is made available. That'll likely depend on demand from fans, but given what The Rock did for that one scene alone after having the match lit under him during Comic Con, you know if the demand is there, he'll definitely try to please the fans and give them what they want (especially if it only solidifies his position over at DC/WBD).

What exactly is the agenda against critics giving this a good score

I never pay attention to critics.
Most highly rated critic films I don't like.

I go by audience. People who want to like the film. Probably pick it because they like that type of film.

I bet if it was in Korean the critic reviews would be 80 percent+ by default! :D

I don't really like marvel stuff anymore. Not for years really.

Might give this a go

So so little cinema content to see

This was really enjoyable. Just a decent, well paced action superhero movie. Good cast too.

Based on the post credits scene.....I am really looking forward to the DCU now.

Adding The Rock to the staple of DCU leading characters was a great move.

Second viewing today. Imo better than Dr Strange 2 and Thor L&T.

Surprised they didn't do Dr Fate movie earlier with Pierce Brosnan or JSA movie .

Just home from watching this, I have to say Aquaman aside i've always preferred marvel movies.

However anything they produced after endgame(Spiderman NWH aside) has been trash and this was really good. I had my doubts about how Johnson would play him, but he was close to perfect. The dark side of his character was perfect.
I feel liek they could have gave abit more prologue to certain things and some parts of the movie needed further depth.

The surprise at the end was amazing and I think DC is actually starting to develop some really good things.

Saw it yesterday and quite enjoyed it. Better than most recent DC Films and some Marvel phase 4 films.

Solid 7/10 almost an 8 just for Dwayne Johnson.

Looking forward to a second viewing when it hits streaming.

I'm gonna go with a 7/10. Nothing spectacular, but Dwayne Johnson plays the role well. I enjoyed the humour mainly being based on sarcasm. Good action scenes. The JSA was intriguing if a little underdeveloped and the main 'villain' was even more underdeveloped but still as an overall I did enjoy it. Doesn't break outside the lines apart from a 'hero' who kills but generally well made.

Thoroughly enjoyed it myself, some great action scenes, the cgi was pretty good and the rock was probably the best he's been for a long time. 1st and 2nd acts flew by it just suffered in the 3rd act as all superhero movies do bar a very select few - the bad guy was **** weak as per the standard for these types of movies. Dr Fate was great, which is a shame, as was hawkman. All in all I'd be more than happy if the dcu continues in this vein, probably the best superhero movie since the end of marvel's p3. Still a way short of Peacemaker though, that's what I want to see more of!

Worth seeing with free tickets?

I prefer the DC type characters in essence to marvel cheese. Just often the films are so bad!

I hope Zack Snyder is involved with making any form of follow up film, his version of Justice League was imho excellent.

There been an announcement now from someone official ***Warning Contains Spoilers from Black Adam***

Henry Cavill just announce this is just a start for his return as Superman

Black Adam/Shazam was created by a bunch of wizards who each gave him a specific gift. Modern Shazam, if I recall, was only given powers by that one wizard in the the subway. (I may have forgotten parts).

So is BA a more powerful version of Shazam?

Forgot to mention you had actually highlighted a good point. I thought they were exactly the same power wise but notice this from the movie.

Black Adam - SHAZAM - Egyptian Gods
The Stamina of Shu:

The Swiftness of Horus: Superluminal speed

The Strength of Amon: Superhuman strength

The Wisdom of Zehuti

The Power of Aten:

The Courage of Mehen

Capt Marvel - SHAZAM - Greek Gods

Wisdom of Solomon

Strength of Hercules

Stamina of Atlas

Power of Zeus

Courage of Achilles

Speed of Mercury
