Black Mesa Source

Waited 8 years for this and I'm so happy right now!. Still a scary thought to think I was only 14 when the original came out. It's still one of the best FPS for its day, story wise and for just being different imho.

I'm playing it in 3D and it looks great so far. They've done a fantastic job on the music too,

Its a mixed team I believe, people have come and gone through the years, I do know one of the main guys is Australian and another is from The States. Must be some Brits in there though :)

Been playing this a bit today, loving it so far. Never really managed to get far with the original as I couldn't get into it with it looking so dated (shame on me?! :p)

Got up to the point where you start seeing the laser trip wires and so on, really enjoying it. Quite probably the best single player experience I've had in a long while!

Great mod, the quality seems just right but whatever happened to that old Einstein looking scientist? either they changed him or he never appeared again in hl2 and this mod, shame as he was the most comical.

Same here the mod and in 3D(passive) is awesome and I get 80fps with an old GTX 295 :D

It puts a lot of these so called great games to shame.

Downloading from Shacknews at max bandwidth, so I should be able to actually play this thing in a about 15-20 minutes. Makes a change from the 100KB/s I was getting yesterday evening.

I'm using nvidia vision for 3D. Still get on average 100+fps only dropping to 60-80 in some areas with a lot of smoke. That's with everything cranked up on a 680GTX. Without 3D it's hitting the 300fps limiter in the office levels and staying close to 200 everywhere else :)

Everywhere I tried to download from either gave me crap speeds, or the 1's that did download were corrupted :(

In the end I used the torrent which did work.

Only played an hour so far, but it's easy to tell a lot of love has gone into this game :D

This is great. One issue though....

Is that something i've done or a known bug?

Anyone know how to reduce or remove the mid level loading?

Surely having 6GB of RAM and 1GB of VRAM is enough to play a whole level without any loading?
