Black Mesa Source

Will they be getting paid anything for this mod? Seems mad they can produce work of this quality for free.

I would have gladly paid for this mod if they could have worked something out with Valve. Especially if it would have meant getting some help with it and getting it faster.

Is it not worth waiting until they've got Zen to play through it?

You should play through the first part. Xen will come in time along with DM.

I'm glad people have enjoyed it so far. Makes all the years working on it worth while. :) I was going to throw in a little logo easter egg in for you guys to find but didn't know the implications of using it so decided not too.

I was going to play this from start to finish but the stuttering is quite bad for me, for some reason. Think I'll wait until there are some performance fixes and the Xen parts are finished and added to it, then I can appreciate it properly.

My mate did media technology and his final year project was to do a 3d thingy and it was nowhere near as good as the black mesa train ride. Not to mention the train ride was interactive.

I don't for a second doubt that's true, however that is clearly only a small part of the work he will have done to earn his degree. Your post stated that it would be enough to earn you a 1st class degree, which is quite frankly preposterous.

Bethesda and Valve seem to bring out the best in modders. Bethesda because they have to finish what they started and Valve because people just love it :p

Ok I'm completely stuck. Can't see what I'm supposed to do to get past this bit:

Can't see a way of opening the opening on the conveyor belt, can't see any reason to move the crane bit back and forth either? It doesn't seem to achieve anything!

Any pointers (I'd rather do it from a clue than just be told the solution straight! :p)

I almost feel guilty playing such an amazing game for free. I'd have happilly payed £10 for this. And they wont even accept donations?

I'm pretty sure they'd be on very shaky legal grounds if they did that.

There is a way to open it, go back a bit and have a root around (it's above you so some staircases might help :p)

I'm at that bit too, it's a bit of a pants level really, feels like I'm completely lost.

Are you part of the team who worked on this? You were going to add the OCUK logo in game?

As others have said I too would gladly of paid and feel a little guilty enjoying this excellent piece of work.

Completed this last night, very enjoyable. It is filled with lots of little touches like the mug and vending machine pictures posted earlier, here is another couple:

Oh my god.... I missed the massively obvious button right next to where I'm stood on that screenshot. Either that or the game bugged out and it didn't work? Either way I've reloaded it and can make some progress!
