Black Mesa Source

Well finally got round to finishing it, fantastic conversion of a great game. Would be interesting to get a perspective from new/younger players who never played the original to see how they think this stacks up against current games.

:D Thank God real games like this are still being made.....some of the new stuff is for kids with the attention span of a goldfish :)

If you trawl back through the thread there was a couple of nippers who got frustrated and well, we did not see them again :D

Ok i may have missed something. I just completed this and..

the last three chapters are missing from the original HL.

Any news when the last three chapters will be available:

A little bit annoyed :/

They said when it was released they weren't going to bother waiting for Xen and release it separately. Hopefully with the intention to remake Xen properly as it was rubbish in the original.

Yeah it would have been nice if it all was completed but it was taking too long really, waiting for Xen would have probably added a year and no one would have been interested by then.

Could be worth cracking out the original to see what Xen was like, though the last 2/3 times I have been through it I have found it a bot of a let down compared to the rest of the game.

just finished the game and it was very very good. I really like the sound track specially the one in surface tension, we got hostiles and when you pick up the laser gun.

flashbacks inside my head really helped a lot when solving puzzles like the one in 3head dragon and activating the coolants for the reactor :D

I was gonna ask what the 3head dragon was....just realised you meant the 3 headed Pecker :D

I'm sure I recall in the original game there were some others outside you had to get by ?

To be honest people had been waiting over 6 years and there was plenty of interest so I suspect another year wouldn't have changed things massively. Personally I'm waiting for Xen and I was also concerned about bugs which hopefully will have been squashed by then.

That said I think it was a good idea to release what they'd done and get some feedback because it was dragging on a lot and I had honestly given up hope a couple of years back that it would ever be completed (to a good standard), same with the Deus Ex HDTP project.
