Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Oh yeah, I know. I expect the Nope script was more alluring so he went for that. I liked his character in the first film but he could've just been another side character again and I suppose that's not exciting to him
Would have been nice to see a redemption in Infinity War/End Game. A few charging Armoured Rhino's might have been useful.

Do people actually look forward to all these Marvel films its like an endless conveyor belt of crap that Disney keep churning out every year.

Whilst successful the first movie was a bit cookie cutter, Boseman was excellent at the character but it didn't offer a lot storywise. I feel a bit conflicted on this one, maybe they should have put the character to bed after Boseman's death. This needs to be more than a tick box exercise to make it worthwhile. The MCU is now totally coasting on past glories. The Phase 4 films have all been competent and the TV series whilst not all landing well have at least branched out in their ideas. I think the main problem is there is too much too fast and it's all becoming a little wearying. The First 3 phases had a pretty solid underlying arc and nothing about Phase 4 gets close that. The only stand out element has been Spider Man - No Way Home.

Most of them no but the odd one yes. Will always look forward to a spiderman film as he/she/them/her are clearly the best superhero. But the majority of this last phase have been filler at best.

There are just too many films, too many heros, too many baddies......superhero fatigue.

The last Marvel film I was genuinely hyped for was Endgame, that was 3 years ago, everything since then has been mediocre at best, with the exception of spiderman no way home, I am also semi looking forward to the marvels, mainly because I actually like Brie Larson as captain marvel and even enjoyed her first film, I'm interested to see how she interacts with miss marvel from the recent TV series which was alright.

Its funny, people say he was amazing but IMO he was bland and forgettable. Michael Jordan and Andy Serkis stole the show every time they were on the screen. He was just a bit of a charisma vacuum and the weakest of all the main actors.

I'm not sure I fully agree.

It wasn't until the post credits scene of the 8th movie in the series (Thor: Dark World), during Phase 2, that "infinity stones" were even mentioned, and really it was Guardians of the Galaxy that had to do a bit of heavy lifting with regards to properly introducing Thanos and showing us all the stones.

If you consider Black Widow the start of Phase 4, then we're currently on film number 6 and Wakanda Forever will be the 7th movie. I'm guessing it's going to be the post credits sting of that, leading in to Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantumania where the 'Multiverse' stuff will really start kicking off (Since Kang the Conqueror is actually a main character in that movie)

But in Phase 4:
Loki introduced the multiverse
Spider-man followed it up somewhat, but all set in the MCU we know.
Dr. Strange actually went to some different universes.

So in many ways, we're further ahead now in terms of the overall arc, than we were at this stage in the 'Infinity Saga'

I've not really watched much Marvel since Endgame as I kind of thought "well, that was fun I guess, now I'm done" - bit this is interesting.

I suppose I'll just have to wait until all the content is out and available and ask the question "what can I skip, and what order do I watch this in?" as there is just too much of it and it's overwhelming.

Yeah there is as much 'overall arc' now as there ever was until right at the end of the infinity saga. I think a lot of people are misremembering things.

Yeah eventually it will burn itself out when i was a kid a superhero film was once in a blue moon now we have about 10 a year plus the Tv shows its too much.

well phase 1 was about character introduction and pulling them all together for the avengers movie leading onto phase 2, which was where the concepts of the infinity stones appeared and of course you had big bad Thanos start popping up. P4 has been what? a badly handled introduction to the multiverse? A throwaway scene in Loki showing you how pointless the 1st 3 phases were? There's been no resolution so to speak.

My own opinion is that the tv shows on disney+ haven't been a good thing, they should have been the character introduction with the movies reserved for setting up who or what the new big bad was.

Phase 4 is doing that as well but its fractured into TV and movies. Also they put key pieces in after credits scenes at times so you can miss them when the entire TV show season has no after credit scenes then one episode does.

Vaguely surprised people don't think there was an overall arc to the first 3 phases. Assembling the avengers, testing and failure of the Avengers and the exploration of the wider arena, leading to the civil war and then the redemption in end game. The infinity stones don't run through everything but there were 3 mini arcs leading to the whole. Phase 4 doesn't have that phase 1 assembling introducing vibe and the multiverse thing is very haphazard. Sorry off topic.

Here's hoping Wakanda Forever is fresh and clever but I worry it will be derivative and dull.

The infinity stones were barely mentioned in phase 2 and Thanos only appeared in one film as a bit part then a single post credit scene right at the end of Infinity War. That's hardly an arc. To seriously answer you the overrunning theme of P4 has been mostly grief and how the different people are dealing with the aftermath of loss from Endgame. Whether family (Loki, Thor), friends (Hawkeye, Falcon and Winter Soldier) or lovers (Wandavision) Then of course you have the multiverse and the threat of incursions which has been the main plot of Loki, No Way Home and Multiverse of Madness. In between we've had introduction films and show unconnected just as we've had in every phase.

Thor 2
GotG
Avengers 2

that's 50% of the p2 movies

He's also referenced a hell of a lot more than 1 film as a bit part in p2? he's continually referenced in multiple movies and is the direct threat of p3.

No, he isn't.

He isn't even mentioned in Thor: Ragnarok whose post credits scene leads in to Infinity War.

In fact I don't believe there is one mention of him in Phase 3, prior to Infinity War, other than a teeny tiny mention of him from Gomora and Nebula in GOTG Vol. 2
