Blackwell gpus

The last few pages all sounds some kind of morbid auction to me!

The #1 rule of auctions etc.: never reveal how much you are prepared to pay!
(this does not apply to those who think buying very expensive is a badge of eliteness)

£4999!

£2499 is to cheap. You all trying to rip Jensen off.

Jokes aside. Honestly can't see it being over 2K.

When people are giving guess it should be based on msrp and fe prices. Aftermarket prices can vary a lot.

The TUFs were one of the cheapest 4090s on release day, matching the FE price and so were some of the higher end ones like the Suprims, just people got carried away and the sellers were increasing the prices every second ... as we saw...

I really need to switch off the internet and live in a cave when these are released as my FOMO is way way out of control.
I mean I bought a 30th anniversary dualsense controller because of FOMO despite having already having a standard one + a stealth ultra, Starfield Xbox pad and several others.
Does anyone know if this condition is treatable via the NHS?

you made a mistake, you FOMO could have helped here A LOT. should have bought a PS5 PRO 30th Anniversary edition and sold them on ebay for £4000+. The scalpers are terrible but if people are willing to pay why not. I promise you MSRP is going to be much higher for 5090 than 4090. For the last few years we are paying more for more. I remember back in the day top tier would be similar price from one gen to another, so you got more performance for similar price. So now if you pay for Top Tier graphics card from this generation of say £1000, then next gen this level of performance still cost £1000 but there is now another tier of performance A+ that costs £1500. This is what nvidia has been doing. So If 5080 performs similar to 4090 then expect to pay 4090 prices.

I think what will happen is that we might see some good pricing the gen after Blackwell, as that will be close to next gen consoles releasing.

Similar to how they did the 3080, possibly? But if they come out 6 months or more earlier than the consoles then maybe not as good of a chance.
Though I'd be surprised if they didn't try semi reasonable pricing to try and tempt console buyers away

pretty much the scenario by 2035, so i would recommend that all of us should get used to geforce now so that it doesnt come across as a surprise when nvidia stops selling consumer hardware

Mate of mine said recently he was talking to someone who works in the industry and this mate of his, Simply by watching patterns in companies and not some hush hush insider or anything, Genuinely believes maybe 1-2 more gens of GPU and then companies will slowly move away from consumer hardware as there's more and more money to be made from AI, Data centres etc... so what's the use in charging £800-£1000 for a xx80 GPU when you can slap a bit more memory on it and sell that same silicon for £8,000 a pop to some big company.

I'm also of the opinion that the days of dedicated GPU's as we now know them for consumers are coming to an end... albeit slowly.

Gaming GPU's are simply a waste of resources for these companies and they can see it from the literal mountains of cash they are making from AI and data centres.

Does anyone know if this condition is treatable via the NHS?

A sprained ankle is beyond the abilities of the NHS, What you are asking for is a god like miracle.

Yeah, but what happens when ai crazy slows down and they no longer have gamers as they killed that market?

At worst they can just use another fab like samsung which might not have as many transistors but offer it cheaper. Basically stay one process behind for gamers.

theres no ai craze imo, whats currently underway is a big change in how things are going to get done in future- not all ai solutions have to generate revenue, it could be used for other purposes or could be simply an investment that everyone's got to make just to remain competitive.. we will eventually reach a stage where replacement demand for these chips will be more than the new datacenter demand that we are currently witnessing. however, there is a possibility that a competitor decides to break pricing by offering AI boards for 1/5th the current price, very much possible because it would still be profitable to do so, like the ikea of AI... possible but depends on how alternatives for CUDA develop, nvidia currently has a stranglehold on the market

yeah thats likely as well, but i would doubt theres enough capacity at any level, maybe we are looking at 3 generations of no gaming innovation
