Bladerunner 2 (Spoilers!)

Considering when BR 1 was made ...and what 2049 offers...the original blows chunks all over it.

Just in production value alone...considering the lack of technology available at the time.

2049 is Dull...considering the tech that's available to modern day directors and producers.

Lol, this post is hilarious.

Your movie opinions really crack me up.

To be fair though - a 1982 movie looking "like that" is a feat of technology and incredible artistic vision, a 2016 movie mimicking that 1982 movie with all the tools available and ending up looking like it does, "less noir" and more "'Only God Forgives' meets 'The Mist'" - impresses less, doesn't it? It doesn't mean it looks bad, just - you know - nowhere near as impressive as achieving visual sci fi like this the year original Star Trek Wrath of Khan was your main competitor for outlandish visuals...

If you can't "see it" then your in a happy place.... just like the cow in the field.

I'm glad I have the blessing of lucid thought of my own and not easily duped into things by mere so called spectacle. When on closer analysis is merely hiding what is a dull experience with a dodgy script.

yeah quite easy to grasp for the "people not of the herd" :p

haha nice one.

This movie was absolutely amazing. I don't think I've ever seen a perfect sequel before. Asking Harrison Ford to play Deckard was a bold and controversial decision because this made Deckard look really old, but I guess it worked out OK. You can still tell he's supposed to be Deckard.

Ryan Gosling was great as that guy he plays.

The music was strongly evocative of Vangelis' work on the original, which I appreciated. There were multiple visual homages as well; this was another nice touch.

They did make one glaring error: K says it's impossible for two people to have the same DNA. This is not true. Identical twins share identical DNA.*

I rate Blade Runner 2049 at 33.3 on the Haglee Scale, which works out as a glorious 10/10 on IMDB.

* I've since learned that identical twins have nearly identical DNA, but until 2014 it was been virtually impossible to tell them apart. New DNA forensics have succeeded in determining the differences between the DNA of identical twins. The more ya know!

:)

The last few pages of this thread pretty much sum up why I can't stand the majority of the OG BR fans xD

They adopt this really weird sense of smug superiority from it, a lot like Tool fans in fact. They're convinced that the original is perfect in every conceivable way and that anyone who suggests otherwise is a philistine who doesn't understand the 'true art of filmmaking'.

Yup, the pseudo-intellectual media/film studies types.

I was about to comment on that! :)

It's becoming more prevalent these days too. It seems as though knowing a little about 'French New Wave' allows you to play the new age Ebert in every forum across the land.

Your not allowed to have an opinion anymore unless you've analysed every frame of a movie in detail.

Again, the insecurity pops up. Seems that everyone should be on the same "I like page" otherwise they are classed as a pseudo intellectual?

BR 2 is mediocre at best, if this makes you feel unsettled then deal with it.

The fact you like it, is not my problem. I get to do something else with nearly three hours of my life while others can watch the paint dry again on bluray in 4k.

each to their own.

The problem isn't that you dislike it, Easy. No one here has an issue with that. There's plenty of evidence in this thread prior to your arrival that suggests great discussion from opposing view points.

It's your constant belittling of the people who enjoyed it that's the problem. Though, I'm beginning to think it's something you can't quite help, given that you're accused of it in every other thread you seem to pop up in.

Have to be honest, having seen BR 2049 last night, I did find it a little dull.

It doesn't really "do" anything. There are some lovely touches and great nods to the original but I just didn't feel blown away.

6.5/10 Might have to watch it again.

SOD OFF EDDSCOTT JESUS WTH MAN!?!?!?!

In all seriousness though, where are you people watching this? It's not even out on BR until Feb I believe...

nah it isn't about having a difference of opinion, whether people like the film or are critical of it isn't what was being commented on but rather the way the opinion is being put across

6.5? What rating would you class it if it was blown away? 10/10? Then in your opinion you should state that it was just about average movie
