Bladerunner 2 (Spoilers!)

Eh I don't know. BL is, and always will be my go to Sci Fi movie. I'm not that dismayed at something different or deviating from the original look and feel. It took quite some time for Ridley to release the Directors cut which was in my opinion a better telling than the cinematic release. The look is some-what still there and I have hope for something different.

I agree Harrison seems to be in cash-in mode of late; god knows why.

I hope it's good. I love my Sci Fi.

Completely gone. This trailer looks like the makers don't understand Blade Runner universe and mythos - too bright, too clean, too cgi, too full of B-movie background cast. It's bad enough that shoving old Harrison Ford in our faces wrecks the whole purpose of "Directors Cut" - the question of "is-he-isn't-he" just stopped existing in this Blade Runner timeline and with it the decades long fight for a proper release. But this trailer is 70% daylight. Now that destroys the core of that universe. You may be allowed one, tops two scenes in daylight. Flashback maybe. Now this steaming pile looks like one of those ideas where they would take Alien to a ice glacier desert and make it fight with Predator.

So how do you know Deckard isn't a replicant?? In the original film it is mentioned they are biological in nature and have a limited lifespan after which they wear out especially considering they were built for maximum performance,ie,physical abilities well beyond that of a normal human. Both Deckard and Rachel are not as strong or physically able(at least from what we see in the film) than the other models which we saw and as also indicated in the original film there were different models as Roy Batty was a combat model.

If Deckard and Rachel were newer generation replicants designed to pass as human and to have much longer lifespans, why wouldn't they age too??

Not sold though it is less bad looking than I expected.

Not convinced there are bits they have now revealed I had hoped wouldn't be in the film.
We'll see where it goes.

Jared Leto is who?
Tyrell reborn? He certainly seems to be making the replicants, or whatever they are in this film.
A child? (thought he had none)
Tyrell corp, wasn't the building meant to have been destroyed (four pillars to collapse in upon themselves), assume that's gone form the canon.

Oh my!

I can't wait for this, love the music in the trailer! Villeneuve hasn't done a film I haven't enjoyed so I'm quite optimistic about it.

After watching that trailer I can't help but feel a little underwhelmed. I don't think it will live up to the original at all, though I could be wrong. I'll wait for reviews before deciding to watch it.

I'm not entirely sure it needs to live up to the original. I just like the genre and anything created in any universe by PKD. As long as it is visually comparable, which it seems to be and has a ambiguous but layered story I'll be happy.

I like the look of this.

TBH, I'm not a fan of the original, looked great, boring as hell! May have watched the wrong version, what with there being around 197 of them :)

Deckard is a replicant, thus has a limited life span and here we are many years in the future and it appears "Deckard" is still alive. So unless what we are seeing in the trailers is another replicant, just with Deckard's memories then we have a situation where the original movie has just been ignored. (unless they are ignoring PKD & Scott's interpretation and ignoring the director's & final cuts)
As for our new "replicant creator" - doesn't have to be related Tyrell, many a protagonist that just wants to "continue the work of the man they admire" has appeared in film, I'm guessing that is what we have here.

Well in the original cut Rachel didn't have a shut off date,so we don't really know if experimental/new generation replicants have the shorter lifespans of mass production ones. All the replicants we see in the original seem much stronger than a normal human, but Deckard does not so he could be another new type of longer lived model.

Remember the new film is set only 30 years after the old one,and Deckard looks pretty old,and if he was a replicant he would have only been a few years old at the time of the original. So you have a 30 to 40 year old replicant looking like someone in their 70s,so that would indicate accelerated ageing.

OFC,he could just be a human too.

Ridley Scott probably does have some involvement though:

The 5 year life span was deliberately engineered into sold models as after that they became emotionally unstable (or perhaps sufficiently self aware not to follow orders in reality). Either way, they would quite happily follow the Apple ethos!

Given that by and large replicants were genetically engineered they could make the telermeres or what ever they're called as long or short as they wanted.

indeed, as mentioned previously the replica question is supposed to be deliberately left as an open question in this one too by the filmmakers. I don't think people should jump to a conclusion that Deckard can't be a replicant simply because he's still alive.

I think the trailer looks ok. I hope the soundtrack can live up to the quality of the original.

For lolz, anyone who is a fan of RedLetterMedia should watch their video Rich Evans Auditions for Blade Runner 2049.
