Blame it on Hiphop

Just look at this...

Either I'm trippin' off the ecstasy
Or I could feel the world turnin'
I'm havin' flashbacks, I can feel the shells burnin'
Comin' up, I was taught never back down
That's why I act the way I act now, hold the mac down
32 shots, squeeze til there ain't a shell left
Come with my gun smokin', you can smell death
They get the first laugh, I get the last laugh homie
Hit the gas on it, pull up and mash on 'em

.

Can you specify what track and who the artist is? This is someone clearly talking about his actions and not giving any instruction/license to kill...

not all hip hop is like that anyway, Jurassic 5, Handsomeboy Modelling School even some of Guru to name but a few. Unhelpful stereotypes for the lose.

Artist: 50 Cent
Album: Guess Who's Back
Title: **** You

Sure hes not directly instructing, but my word is he glorifying it massively. And thats just one track of many, that was just the first on i clicked!

EDIT: I am NOT saying i dislike hip hop, i love me some old skool. Dre before he went gangster, grandmaster flash and jurassic 5 are all on my playist, old skool 80's.early 90's hip hop is brill. But atm, you cannot get away from violent gangster rap.

They can be ****ing with other ****** **** but they can't be ****ing with mine.

There you go taking things out of context. Look at the message the whole track is trying to paint or the story the artist is trying to tell.

I think glorifying and telling astory/painting a scenario is subjective...

OK, I'll listen to the whole track and try to get back to you on that tomorrow...

Are you actually serious? Can you type that with a straight face?

Delusional imo. :/

In fact 50 has said he firmly believes his life as a drug pusher was arranged by God as part of his "life story".

Bottom line - he sold drugs, he got shot. He got fed up of getting shot, turned to rap, he talked in his raps about his life as a hustler - and as such has made a fortune because people like the drugs hard man talk.

So - he sold drugs, which led to him having rap material, which sold records which has made him rich. And that's actually the way god works apparently. Jonathan Ross asked him - "have you any problems talking about being a hustler" - and 50 says no, "it's gods way".

Reading some of the lyrics here, I'm wondering if your * keys will take much more.

Isn't it embarrasing playing stuff like that - do you keep your windows closed?

Do you honestly believe that every 14 year old kid listens to the lyrics and tries to understand the deeper meaning?

Is it not within the realms of possibility that they like it because its full of swearing and violence?

I remember buying Bodycount and Ice T tapes when I was like 11 or 12 just because they were so violent and full of all those naughty words..

imo anyone who actually thinks sane peopel get the urge to go stab someone because of hip hop is a complete idiot who loves to blame stuff, its like people who say LETS BLAME GTA, LETS BLAME VIDEO GAMES.
And that kid who used manhunt as inspiration to kill his m8 (clearly not sane) was nuts in the first place, if he went up to his mate and sed say hello to my little friend they wouldnt say 'LETS BLAME SCARFACE'

I was waiting for some one to say that!

Thats's why there is a Parental Advisory label on most rap cds. So in theory and practice, a fourteen year old shouldnt be listening to one and you sir, should not be listening to Ice T at that age.
The cd goes through censoring hence the PA label, the artist did what was required of them by law but are the parent doing their bits properly? This goes back to what i said before of scapgoating .I rest my case.

Sorry but this is blatantly a rap/hip-hop fan boy VS the mass of "normal" people. Im sick to death of it being the same sort of folk sat on the back of buses who insist on playing crap, hip hop and various similar theme's purely to provoke a reaction. The fact they (like the artists) seem to be extremely self centred and aggressive kind of says a lot.

The fact that (like ElRazur) they think of themselves as the best thing since sliced bread kind of says a lot too. Soon as I can find a western culture minus this kind of drivel im off out of the country.

As per the man-hunt story, I personally believe the guy needs mental therapy/treatment/help.
I imagine when he come out of prison and goes to rape a guy....his excuse will be "Oh i was made to pick up the soap in the prison shower"...

Parental advisory is an American thing...Its a RIAA label and its not even a legal thing in the US..its simply an advisory label....Kids are still allowed to buy these things..

and what do you mean you rest your case? I said right at the start this this was stupid scapegoating....but that doesnt mean that this music culture doesnt encourage certain behaviours..To deny it is just silly..
