As you can see, hiphop is still the best of the bunch in terms of fashion.

Thats entirely subjective though?

If you are saying that wearing those clothes is a fashion statement then conversely wearing goth/punk/whatever clothes is also a statement. However, as you fall into a genre, it really isn't a statement at all.

Also, just becuase you like music, doesn't mean you have to wear all the clothes and stuff..

This thread will never come to a consensus as its a subjective matter. I would be more inclined to blaim it on popular youth culture (of which hiphop is an influential subset)

It's hardly a fashion statement, if you all wear the same crap.

Same goes for Goths, Rockers, Skaters, Hip Hoppidy Hoppers.

You wear it to fit in with the genre, so it's anything but a "Statement". Unless you trying to tell the world you follow trends like a blind sheep.

Now pull your trousers up, you'll wear the leg ends out! :o

I think that the fact many people where it and it has plenty of lines and style being churned out make it a statement??

I dont dress to fit into as genre, i wear what i want but it is mostly hiphop influenced. Nothing wrong in copying a style you like and adapting it for your need.

I dont do that.

Yes, i gave my view.
Yeap i agree, all fashions could be said to be a statement and you dont have to dress that way because you listen to that kind of music genre.

Indeed.
It is also merely a fashion statement for the metal/punk/emo/other genre kids that you yourself have lambasted.

Or do they not count, because they don't follow your own version of what a "cool" fashion statement is?

And, and this is just my own personal belief on the matter, the rap fashion examples you have shown just about had me puking with laughter. If that is what floats your own particular boat though, then it's not my place to criticise.

I will still laugh my butt off though. :D

When are all these punk and rock lovers gonna grow up and stop wearing Crouch-tight jeans, disfiguring their bodie via piercing and quit dying their hair pink?

See how that sounds? it is short-sighted for me to say that because, that is the fashion/culture of that kinda of music i guess. Hiphop has is own fashion too and if you aske me, i think it looks sexy and nice on whoever is wearing them.

Why would people wanna dress like a common chav as above?

I havn't read the whole thread, only a couple of pages....In my opinion I think this "gangster rap" rubbish does promote violence. I don't just think this because I hate it, and every so called "artist" involved, but I do believe that the lyrics and the way these people portray themselfs does cause problems. I think it promotes more than just violence, but drugs aswell. For example not far from where I live is an area with graffiti on it, theres a large cannabis plant, guess what it says above it? "2 pac, thug life".

I would say that other music genre's promote some violence, but only certain songs. Violence seems to be what rap is about, and its getting very old, boring and annoying.

As for those pics you've posted ElRazur, those clothes suck, period.

Every rapper on this planet should be kicked back to where they came from, that ugly 50 cent, eminem, the lot...we've already gotten rid of that 2pac, why not get rid of them all? :)

Yes... that lovely jacket and hair that looks like a 12 year old got hold of some clippers looks better than jeans and a vest

Anyway, leave Eminem out of this. He's so tongue in cheek that I don't think the black community has got it yet.

im tired of your crapy comments like that. You shout about how eminem is a lyrical genious blah blah blah....erm i have news for you, there are people better than him period take it or leave it.

I cant even have this convo with you as you dont have a clue about hiphop.

You don't say.
I hate Hip Hop and thats why I like Eminem because I don't think he is part of that genre (perhaps Infinite was because its serious and awful).
He's like The Macc Lads with looped music behind his words and continually taking the urine.
