Blizzard breaks UK subscriptions

Is there any way to get to play WOW for free? I mean, can I D/L a demo of it and get perhaps a day or a few hours to have a go, without risking in buying any Online time or however you do it?

trywarcraft.com, a shortcut also ships with the catalyst drivers now.

You are also managing a community of fickle people with no lives.

Lol. To true

If you have over 10 million people clearly willing to throw out an extra £25 every couple of years, then you would be bat**** insane to not take advantage of it.

Have you got anything Blizzard have said to prove this 10 million people thing? Appart from '10 million people have experienced wow'
Biggest internet blag ever.

Buddy key?

Ok, all new news, I assume thats as the name implies a special key for users to get their "buddies" playing the game... Ok, I will check it out!

And for this, can I just borrow his CD/DVD and install it on mine and use his buddy key?

How long does it give me?

Listen, if after all of this, I like the game and even shell out for a subscription, I am going to hunt every last one of you down and papercut you all... I bloody mean it.

trywarcraft.com

Ok, thanks.

i think there at 12million now

Vivendi subsidiary Blizzard Entertainment posted revenues of $814 million euros (US $1.2B) last year, up 58 percent over 2006.

The numbers are attributed to the first quarter release of the company's first MMO expansion, World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, in addition to an all-time high of 10 million worldwide Warcraft subscribers.
In comparison, other Vivendi companies, including Sierra Entertainment, Sierra Online, and Vivendi Games Mobile, only brought in a total of $204 million euros (US $301M) in revenue.

mmos are well worth the subscription but wow just sucks :p

Waiting
On
Warhammer

People waited on Vanguard, it failed
People waited on LORTO, it's not making a tiny patch on WoW,
People waited for Conan, not doing anything to erode WoW's hold on the market.
I doubt Warhammer will make much of a difference either

Blizzard owns the market. It's theirs to lose with WOTLK. And from what I've seen (im in the beta), they're heading for 12-13 million subscribers before end 2009

If Bethesda ever try their hand on mmorpg's with TES, Blizzard need to start worrying. These guys know how to build cities, environments and good gameplay

eh? they fail hard at good dialog though. But then i suppose plot and dialog aren't really necessary for mmos.

That is a matter of opinion off course. I doubt very much they will use voice with a mmo, so one can only hope their writing and quests are interesting enough.

oo man an Elder scrolls MMO would be awesome (as long as it's pc only, Tes 4 was good but not as good tes 3 due to its gearing towards the console crowd). Too bad they're busy at work on Fallout 3.

their writing is horrible though.

It has about as much depth as paris hillton.

monthly subs are nothing really if you think about it . Say you go out for a night drinking, u may spend £3 on a pint of beer (or whatever your tipple is),pay to get in a club or get a taxi home...3 pints/drinks and you have already wasted £9 which takes you like 2 hours max to drink?? you get a whole months worth of entertainment for the same price. people will say yea but you can get f2p games but you just dont get the support or constant fixes/updates/content/whatever :D

Valve are not doing just to help us out though.

They are keeping their grubby hands on our games, making sure they are protected more than us, plus, its a huge advertisement billboard that just happens to give you updates.

Wasted? ;)

For some people spending that £9 a month on a sub isn't wasting money, it's wasting their life :p

Yeh, but they spread the word as though 10 million are actually playing where actually its 10 mill have subbed during the whole life of wow's.

I know i dont sub anymore so thats only 9999999 people who actually play. ;)

It seems to have escaped everyone's notice that ArenaNet have proved that subscription-free MMOs can work.

Sure, Guild Wars is nowhere near the scale of WoW (they've only sold around 5 million copies - no figures available to say what proportion of that are individual players or active players.) But it works. You buy one or more of the three chapters, log on and that's it. No subscription, and thousands of hours of gameplay.

The argument "well, WoW is obviously better than GW" is subjective. I played WoW for a few weeks and was severely underwhelmed. The fact remains that Guild Wars is an online, multiplayer RPG and it is free to play. As will GW2 be.

they don't include expired/canceled subscriptions when they give figures, so don't worry you aren't counted.
