Bloc Party - A weekend in the city

Been banging the Klaxons out for a bit now and I'm loving it.

The obvious tunes that stand out to me are:

Two Receivers
Atlantis to Interzone
Golden Skans
Gravitys Rainbow
Magick
It's Not Over Yet (good cover!)

The rest need a good listen before I'll make judgement.

Went to see them when they played the Warhouse Project in Manchester. Seeing them for the NME Rave Tour in Manc on the 17th and then again in May :D

will have to buy the klaxons album i think

i actually seem to prefer most the remixs of there tracks than the actual tracks though :o

digitalism mix of atlantis to interzone is a bit special.

so is erol alkans mix of golden skans , its like golden skans but erm better

infact they should just release a full remix album like bloc party did with silent alarm because most there tracks have a few great remixes each.

I was second row for the whole gig... Amazing!

The support band (Metric) were good, had me bouncing along to 'Empty' and 'Monster Hospital'. The head-banging lead singer was quite easy on the eye too.

Bloc played an excellent gig. A good selection of new and old songs with all the favourites.

I remember (in no particular order): Like Eating Glass, Helicopter, Positive Tension, Banquet, Shes Hearing Voices, Pioneers, Modern Love, Song For Clay, Hunting For Witches, The Prayer, Sunday, Two More Years, Uniform, Waiting for the 7.18, and another pre-SA track which I can't remember.

Worth every penny, I should have got tickets for Bristol as well.

That's great to hear! Not that i doubted they would be anything less than awesome but its still nice to hear it confirmed.

Am off to see them tommorow night in Exeter, can't wait!

I went to the Astoria on Friday and have my ticket for Sheffield on the 22nd (IIRC?). The gig was really outstanding and they found a decent balance between new and old stuff, although, I was really disappointed not to get HFW, even though the other 2 nights did :(!
They better play it at Sheffield :D
Have a great time.

'tis really really great, the stand-out tracks for me are Golden Skans / It's Not Over Yet / Totem On The Timeline and As Above, So Below.
:D I really like it!
Where do you live?

Honestly, I won't hold your tickets for randsom :(

bloc party are amazing, their new album rules, but my fav album at the moment has to be Klaxons, it sjust a bit crap that they have started getting hype from NME :( its means their just gonna go down the pan like the view did...

Agree with Indie, As much as I like the Bloc Party album Klaxons has been getting more air time on my ipod.

I am really enjoying this album.

Golden skans, Its not over yet and Atlantis to Interzone are all fantastic tracks.

nah

theyre actually good so people will continue liking them just like they did before NME went "nu rave" crazy

theyve got major support from well known DJs etc too ,some amazing remixes of them about

the views problem is they where crap and are still crap after NME went wild with them :p , just energetic and good to watch live , the music is poor

hadouken will be next to go (maybe already been , only ever bought NME once for the SMD mix cd whith klaxons on the cover funnily enough)

and they are absolutley pee poor , dont get them at all , **** production , **** live , **** sound , copied look , people rave about them though , it wont last long

Saw them last night at Birmingham Academy. Thought they were awesome, really good set, though the crowd atmosphere was a little wierd. Still, had a great time. My only minor grief is that they never played Luno, it's one of my favourite songs but they don't seem to play it too often from the looks of it.

Saw them at Birmingham last night too, thought they were amazing. Didn't have any problems with the crowd though was a row from the front. The 2nd album definitely works better live. Also thought metric were great and wondered why they played all their best tunes so early but was only a short set for them.

Saw Bloc Party Friday night and they were ok.

I'm not a massive fan but like a couple of tracks, but they weren't sounding too great live tbh. Was probably just the setup but it was to echoey, and the guitars sounded pretty messy. Drummer was awesome though.

Hmm, me and two friends saw them in Exeter on Friday and thought they were awesome.

Metric were really good but i got the impression i was one of the only people in the whole place that had actually heard any of their songs which was a shame.

Bloc party were really good though, the crowd at the front was pretty mental and was a good show i thought.

The show on the whole was ok, just thought the sound was a bit off.
