BMW and M Power Owners

They clearly are just replacing everything as opposed to actually checking what really needs replacing but it's clearly going to be more than £1000 (the limit I set myself) anyway so may as well just let them do it through insurance

I'm absolutely livid. Does this count as accidental damage? As in there's an extra £400 excess if it's classed as accidental damage which I'm guessing it is

Yeah definitely. Just so angry as I only went in to the office this morning as a favour, I was meant to be working from home. :(

Lesson learnt. And for anyone who ever has the misfortune to get caught behind me on icy roads now. I apologise for driving at 1mph at all times

Well, just had a call from BMW....

£6500 worth of damage. Needs two new wheels, two new tyres, steering rack and suspension, the lot basically

****!!!!!

The poor F10. :(

That's a surprising amount of damage for 10mph, have they even looked at it properly, or just made a list of possible things that could be affected and therefore must need replacing...

It sounds simple but the tracking being badly out can flag up that error message.

Yeah at the moment they said that's an assessment based on 10 minutes on the ramp. It might not need the steering rack, they won't know until they replace the steering arm or whatever it is. I'm going to tell them not to do the tyres as they really don't need doing, and I don't want brand new ones on one side and 7k mile tyres on the other

I'm dubious as to half of it actually needing doing given it drives perfectly with no pull on the steering, no noise or sensation through the car. It stinks of a garage cashing in, but if it's going to be over £1000 and I'm going through insurance anyway, may as well do it through BMW to prevent any warranty issues in future and so I know it's done properly (I hope)

Thing is, I drive a lot with my son in the car and if something ever happened as a result of me ignoring it, I'd obviously never forgive myself. But I will definitely ask for a second opinion when they give me the real figure and not an estimate

Crikey, this doesn't fill me with confidence. Albeit my car isn't a BMW (so many not be as expensive) but my partner hit a kerb at 20mph and now I have to have the steering wheel at 90 degrees to go straight. Plus every warning light there is.

Hope it gets sorted for you!
