BMW and M Power Owners

What are the chances of BMW launching the G31 (new 5 Touring) in the UK before July?

Very slim, it's always been 6 months behind the saloon.

The saloon deliveries start in Feb/March. The F11 hasn't ended production yet and doesn't until next year wheras the F10 ended in October.

Which isn't the same thing at all.

They'll announce it but deliveries won't begin until around September.

Just like how the G30 was announced months ago yet still isn't officially on the road. We are long past October and we've not even had dealer pre launch events yet.

Look at the F10 release - saloons hit the roads in March 2010, tourings in September 2010.

So the G31 could still be an (late) option.
My current top of list options are E Class Estate or Audi Q5.

Thoughts on the BMW G31 over the new E Class Estate?

Is this like before where you'll consider a Porsche and a Jaguar and then get a Golf Estate? :P

I don't think you can go wrong with either the E class or the 5 Series. The new E class is a fantastic car.

There will also be some good deals on run-out F11 tourings too. The new model will sell at close to list yet there is as much as 15 grand off the price of F11s as production edges closer to end.

At the time the Golf R deal was too good to pass on. Having lived with it for a year now i'm done with the lust for high power and am looking for something higher quality.
Also, now my son is at school I'm saving over £1.3k a month on childcare so I don't have to focus on 'amazing' deals so much :)

What do you guys think about winter tires for the 1 series?

My e87 has non-run flat summer Goodyear's and winter budget tires.
Given the last few mild winters I am thinking of switching back to a set of all weather run flats to save the swap over cost and the summer tires are due to get replaced in March.

I take it it doesn't cost to get picked up by a recovery truck under BMW Emergency?

Just had to emergency maneuver on an ungritted road because someone panicked and decided to pull over in the middle of the road, which of course caused them to slide. Luckily I was only going around 10mph but still slammed in to the kerb sideways :(

The "Driving Stabilisation - Please drive moderately" message came on. Car looks absolutely fine other than a badly kerbed alloy but I didn't want to drive it in case something would have been made worse, went through the suggested message on iDrive which put me through to someone and they recommended I get a recovery truck out

I'm expecting it to cost a lot of money to fix :( :( :(

Hey Guys,

Nice to see some BMW owners on here :)

I've got a E46 320d but I'm hopefully looking to get E46 M3 in the next year or two I'm only 19 so I'm a bit afraid the running costs will leave me broke.

19 and a M3? Surely there isnt a single insurance company out there that would touch you for less than £5k along with 5k excess?

Regardless of that, i like your thinking. Welcome to the forum.

Assuming insurance is not gonna bend you over or anything, then you may get lucky and find an example that's at the mileage where the previous owners have already dealt with all the common issues and so the car is good for another 80 odd thousand miles or even beyond.

Even still, the thing will drink fuel, not because it's inefficient, because it can manage 32MPG on a long run, but because the engine constantly eggs you on to apply throttle everywhere, and at 19, I can't imagine self control being that good to avoid doing just that.

Aside from this, remarkable engine, great handling and certainly something you'll be glad you owned at least once in your life that's for sure.

An M3 at 19 will be a totally annoying waste of money that will suck up all the free cash you have. You'll end up resenting it, not running it properly or probably both.

It's just a car.

The insurance alone will be such a waste of cash.
