BMW and M Power Owners

2011 Alpine White competition pack with Fox red interior. Has pretty much every option other than front parking and extended.

The car looks better than brand new as it was owned by a detailer. Paid a bit more than wanted but it's literally perfect condition.

The guy that used to my my E46 M3 Cab popped around to say hello the other day in his E92 M3 in white with red leather, it looked good, sounded good and had me considering E93 M3's..

Be interesting to see how you get on, I found the main negative was the interior around the DCT selector was very cheap/bland and the ride a little crashy at times, but that's typical M-car..

Picked my car 3 year old 5 series up last week....washed it today and noticed some ****** has attempted to 'key' the whole length of the passenger side of the car. Front wing to rear wing in one go.
Will attempt to polish as much out as I can. It's pretty weird as its quite a thick mark and looks like it was done with something blunt. Hoping it will come out as it doesn't seem to have gone through to metal.

It's either been done outside my house or when parked up at the train station car park on Firday from 6am to 7:30 pm :(

Theres nothing more annoying than seeing this done to a car. Hopefully it will polish out ok.
I have a 08 520D and spent nearly four hours last summer cleaning waxing and polishing it only to get up the next morning to find my daughter had run her handlebars of her bike along the rear driver side door. I could have cried!

My friend has been wanting to change his Type-R for the past two years, and is finally going to look at a BMW M135i on Wednesday. Derby BMW.

It's a 63 plate with 20k on the clock for £18,000.

Does that price sound about right? and anything worth knowing before we go for a look.

also, can BMW add a service pack to the car or is that only for brand new ones?

Thanks.

Really looking forward to the pictures Simon, I really do like these as to me they are essentially a Mustang with better handling and more fun engine out the box. :)

I assume its the right spec as in DCT, EDC etc?

Any modifications? If not please do the stock back box modification, its around £200 and the noise is to die for, no point in messing with after market exhaust when the stock system modified sounds so damn good for so little money and as a plus, no extra premium on insurance. :)

Will be quite a change from S2000, got another half of tonne to lug around and that was my only complaint of the E9x it felt heavier than it was to get down a back road, unlike the M5 it makes no attempt to hide its weight/size and its the first thing you notice particular when coming from something so small and agile like an S2000.

But trust me after a week if the S2000 was on the drive, you'd still take the M3, so much quicker and so effortless particular with DCT and much higher grip limits in the dry.

Enjoy! :)

Hi,

Yeah has all the spec I wanted except extended leather but i can cope with that, also it was local which helped as it can be a bit of a wild goose chase trying to find good ones - didnt want a black interior.

Tyres are MPSS, Comp pack with DCT, EDC, bonus of HK stereo, heated seats, dynamic lighting, sun glazing and Pro Nav with 6FL USB.

EDC helps with back roads as the comfort setting is really compliant.

The car is currently completely standard, will see how it sounds for mods, have seen the exhaust mod. The M performance inconel exhaust is a bit expensive at £4k :D Other thing recommended is the GTS DCT software.

Yeah I always set all cars to softest setting that have electronic adjustable dampers, softer is better for handling on UK roads, stops the car skitting/skating over the road, particular in wet.

Sounds like a great example to me, look forward to seeing and hearing it. :D

I've been thinking of this mod, would you say it sounds nice and quiet at idle as a pre modded one?
As much as i would like a fully decatted system, i love how quiet and civilised it is (once warm;)) but want something more angry and vocal when pushing it at bit.

You can do 2 or 4 mod, 2 mod is more civilised.

Cold starts will always be loud, but they can be coded out, just not sure whether its a simple code out yourself with BMW software so in effect free of charge or it can only be done as part of a remap.

Best to check on the forum as the BMW flasher I use on my E46 allows you to pull the stock file from the car and make simple changes such as SMG inertia upgrade (CSL settings), delete cold start, throttle maps, rear 02 delete, etc.

If there is something similar for E9x then in theory you can do it yourself, of course it will register on the cars flash counter, so if you have BMW warranty it could cause you some hassle if making a warranty claim but if all you did was disable cold start function then in reality it would not cause harm and if they investigated the map they would see spark, fuelling, vanos/cam angles were all as stock settings. :)

I dont mind the cold start, its the quiet idle id prefer not to lose by modding. Not the end of the world if its a little louder whilst idling. I'll have to watch a few more videos to get a better idea.
Will probably end up doing it anyway eventually. :D

Just as an aside to my earlier post, it's amazing how the attitude and demeanour of the salesman changes once you phone to cancel, from "yes, no problem, I can do" to "you have to put your cancellation in writing because I've processed the order" - with a noticeable new found abruptness to his tone...

Funny that, we've not signed anything so how he thinks we have to put anything in writing, I don't know....

And I say we've as my other half put a deposit on a 120d (the reason for us being there in the first place) but, after the PCP discussion in the earlier replies and in no small part the salesmans attitude change, she's cancelled too.

Its the people who make these places, and far to often car salesman seem to have real chips on their shoulders.

I got my Mum the VW Up this weekend and it was refreshing to deal with a sales guy who was nothing but accommodating, though he was only around 24 but he was helpful and at no point tried to push anything on us.

Though he could not do much in the way of discount (I already knew the car was well priced) but had to try he did fill the car up and agreed to sort the windscreen so that Seat get billed and so my Mum did not have to pay £75 windscreen excess.

Eek just put a deposit down on a 140i in Valencia Orange with Oyster Leather. Was initially holding out for a Golf R lease but they have just face lifted the car and the prices are ridiculous at the moment.
Also a 140i on lease with the options I wanted was equally ridiculous so went with PCP in the end.
Just have to wait until the end of June for delivery :(

let me know what you think

My mate picks his 135i up next week. Automatic and M-Sport suspension options I think. Have to admit, it's made me wonder about picking one up myself.

Just wish they'd stuck with the old shapes rear end, not a fan of the new look myself.

Well, I'm a massive two weeks into my E92 M3 ownership and I'm still smiling every time I drive the car. Can't believe I waited this long to buy one! The only slight negative, as others have mentioned, is that anything other than 'normal' for the EDC is just too hard and crashy for the roads round here. Oh, and I'm getting about 15mpg on my normal commute. ;)

I love the throttle blip on down-shift, the engine/exhaust noise, the shift lights and of course, the little courtesy LED lights in the door handles. :p

Car is booked in for an oil service and check over at a local independent specialist next Friday, will let you know how it goes.

I got impatient so off to get it now. Managed to get it insured for £545.

Don't blame ya!

The downblip the DCT makes on downshifts is totally glorious in these! :)
It is the one thing for me BMW have done better than every other manufacturer and that is the hard core feel of SMG/DCT when turned up to attack mode. :D
