BMW and M Power Owners

A lease with that mileage on a car like this will be insane money. You are better off just buying it.

Warranty is about 500-600 a year provided car is under 60k.

How does BMW deal with specialist on the service book ? My z4 has mostly BMW service history bar last two which were done by specialist. Would they refuse a warranty claim on comprehensive policy? I'm tempted to take one out for 632/year before the car ticks over 60k but I wonder how they'll deal with things like suspension etc which has had work done before by specialist.

Not sure about your actual question, but if you do go for the warranty make sure you choose to pay monthly. If you choose annual, at renewal you'll be over 60k miles and be looking at a much higher cost.

My warranty runs out on my M135i next month, and I'm on 46k miles.

It's considerably cheaper to buy an annual warranty, but with a few trips planned for the next 12 months (including some European motoring), I could be on the verge of exceeding 60k miles, meaning that the next time I renew my warranty it'll be more expensive still.

Would it be feasible, should the above happen, to cancel the 12 month warranty and then take a month to month contract? Or should I just take a month to month contract now and not worry about it?

I'm pretty certain that as long as you setup the warranty before 60k miles, come the renewal time you won't be penalised?
Only if you pay monthly. If you pay annually, the cost will rocket when it reaches renewal time and you're over 60,000 miles.
It makes sense to pay annually when you're not at risk of hitting 60k in a year, but if you're in a situation like wingman describes above, it's best to get onto the monthly one before you reach 60k.

Quick question...and probably a stupid one

On the F10 (although I'm sure it's the case on other models too), when you are using the sat nav, you get a little white circle appear on your range. What is that? I assumed it's something to do with how much fuel you will use on the journey, but it doesn't always make sense. And most of the time I use it, it just ends up on the beginning of the gauge anyway as if I'm not using anything

I wondered about that dot myself. I think the dot adapts to your current fuel usage, so the longer you drive the greater range it should show, as your mpg increases.

Yeah I was thinking about that, I'm on 59k right now so if I'm going for it I better do it now. But I don't want claims to be refused as that'll simply render the warranty useless. Anyone in know can comment?

I'm not sure it's worth it on the Z4. The only big ticket item that goes wrong really is the root motor and the coupe hasn't got one.

It's one of the last of the more simple BMWs.

The only really scary thing on Z4 Coupes is the N52's top end/valve train - if you get the tapping once the engine's up to temperature then it'll be a top end rebuild.

The chances of that are incredibly slim however, which means the £x/month isn't really worth it as within 3 years you'll have paid more in than it would cost to do a top end rebuild.

Question on spotify over bluetooth.... the first song updates the car display with the album art and song name etc. However it soons becomes out of date on the display and doesnt resync with the phone. any ideas? car is bmw 640d 2015. professional nav i think.

I had the warranty on the Z4 and I have it monthly on the Z4M for piece of mind more than anything. Its most likely a waste of money in the long run if you are handy around a car/don't use BMW for repairs ( I do and I cant be bothered to fix my own car) and as Fox says on coupe you already are missing the one part that will almost certainly fail at some point.

Saying that the warranty for this year is half way towards paying for its self already.

How much do they want for it for a month ? Guessing its gone up since I had it on the non M.

it's £59/month for the warrianty.

I do most of the work my self unless I literally cannot do it on the side of the road. I guess I could simply put away the 60/month in the rainy day fund and use that for any work when the car needs it. N52's do have the issue that Marvin mentioned but it is rare so I'm not too fussed if it does happen.

Just had a disappointing call from the Garage, I sent my car in as I'm losing oil and thought it was the valve cover as there some traces on the block indicating it could be that, So took a call, saying they can not find where the leak is coming from, they've had the undertray off and left the car running for an hour looked all around under and above the car, but there is no trace of leak coming from it, which is really odd.

So unsure what to do with the car now, just seems to be more issues after another now and quite frankly tired of it now.

Why do you think it's leaking? The m54 engine is known for very high oil consumption.

Because there's a lot of oil or something on the under tray and traces of oil on the engine itself. I haven't spilt anything when topping the oil up every 2 weeks as I use a funnel and immediately clean anything off with kitchen roll if I do spill anything on the engine cover.

That's why I'm suspecting an oil leak.
