Just pops up an inch on mine too (as opposed to my e90 where it flew open all the way)
Because the boot lid on the Z4 is part of the roof mechanism.

Over the last few months my avg mpg has dropped from 33 to 27 in my 730d and I'm not sure why, had it serviced, had an oil leak fixed, engine seems fine, power seems fine although maybe I haven't noticed a decline.
Front tyres need changing soon and the ac has a leak so constantly hear that high pitched buzz, could either of those be the cause? Any other things to check?
Thanks

e85 as well? that raised by an inch too, I just assumed it was due to some health and safety numpty somewhere saying it was dangerous
That's basically my issue. I quite miss having it fully open for me.I must admit I qmiss it, could pop it whilst carrying bags and stuff and not have to faff around lifting the lid. Mind you I prefer that to auto close in the audi, I always forget I have to press a button and it then breaks half way closed....such a stupid design not to have both manual and auto closing
No none of the older E46 and earlier based cars did it. Think the E60 was first.
Are there any major downsides of purchasing one of the earliest model F10 530d (60 plate) under 60k and purchasing the warranty.
This is slightly odd change of mind from me as I've been quite set on a E350 coupe being my next car. However having spent more and more time in one I'm a bit disappointed with the interior, they've cheaped and used plastic and cheap feel materials. The back of both the front seats is big pieces of plastic. You have to pull a lever to move the seat back and forth. In many ways it feels a downgrade from my current car. However for me it's an incredibly elegant looking car, one I've lusted after since it first came out and I was just starting Uni, the engine is a peach and it drives well.
However spending a few k more can get me into this:

Which just seems to be a more superior and modern feeling car. The downside is I end up in a big family saloon car again when I wanted a coupe ideally but I can't overlook such a good proposition.
Thoughts?
£17k for a 7 year old 5 series that doesn't have a petrol six seems crazy to me. However, I'm not in the market so couldn't say for sure.
£16750 on a 10 plate 5-Series is an absolute joke, how the market supports this is beyond me personally.
The new electric water pump and thermostat have arrived at last. Getting installed on the car tomorrow. I've had enough of the 18 mile round trip cycle to work all week.
Well I'm just wondering if it's an issue with mine individually. Knowing the f10 does it is making me think that all the more!
In my idrive settings for the 4 series (completely different I know) I have an option in there to choose how much the boot opens on press. Nothing to do with that is it?
