BMW and M Power Owners

That's exactly what I suspected. Think they'd dropped a clangar and needed to recoup the cost.

Btw, not fancy the new z4 instead of a boxster?

I don't think so, the low powered one I drove felt like a boat in comparison to my Z4M, and that in turn doesn't dance like my old MX5 (amazing cars).

The Porsche has the power of the Z4M (almost) and handles much more like my MX5. The Z4M is more like a TVR!

I may try a Z435Si or what ever they are called just to make sure, but they are more GT cars than Sports Cars, and I want a Sports Car.

Do people still actually use this phrase and believe it holds value in any way, shape or form? :p
Yes, people do. It depends on the industry you're working in. I'm often approached by service delivery managers and hiring managers who know me or who I have worked with in the past.

Definitely, but apart from a Manual Boxster S, what comes close nowadays? And even they are turbo instead of NA now!

That's basically it, with out spending a lot more money you cant really get anything that matches it. Yeh some cars handle better, some faster, some look better but most of those cars all are missing something the Z4M does well (at least to me). Its a quick car that handles well, looks decent, has no roof and the running costs are not completely mental (just slightly). While at the same time not being so uncomfortable that it cant be used for long journeys. You also have the bonus of a BMW warranty that takes out most of the danger of any really expensive bills.

No no, the model due later this/early next year! Full blown rag top and everything. Appreciate it may be a way away but could be worth the wait?
Shares a chassis with the new supra so may be a step away from the GT (agree with you there) and back to the realm of sports car.
Which model boxster are you looking at?

ConnectedDrive saga continues. BMW Germany state it should be working.

Can someone walk me through exactly what I should see and what I need to do in the car? Maybe I'm missing something.

Annoyingly enough I'm having issues too. Bmw requesting proof of ownership. I ******* bought it from them the daft sods.

On the main menu one of the options is called 'Connected Drive'. If it isn't there something isn't right.

The car felt like a new animal driving to work this morning, especially the clear slip road down to the motorway :p

Safe to say that, despite getting it off being a massive ballache, refurbishing the vanos unit was a fantastic idea :D

It's there, but in the menu there are only three sub menus:
Mobile care
Hotline
Your service

Mobile care says there's no paired BT device (my phone is paired and music/voice works).
Hotline is some 0845 number.
Your service is the number of BMW in Shrewsbury, where the car was sold when new.

If I press option and then update BMW Services, after a while it says data transfer complete but the options remain the same.

Thanks. I put a complaint into BMW as I'm fed up of explaining myself every time I ring in or email. The after sales manager for Cheltenham rang me today and has arranged for me to come in on Friday and see one of the technicians who is apparently a bit of an iDrive/Connected Drive whizz. He said they may have to update the iDrive firmware or something. Will have to see how it goes.

It's behaving like the car has no active subscription.

Is RTTI working?

Plot a route and see if it says RTTI or TMC.
I'm 90% sure it says TMC. I don't recall seeing RTTI in the car.

I posted a screenshot in here of my Connected Drive portal which shows active subscription.

Any Boxster S, depends on what takes my fancy really! Ideally I would like to get the latest model 3.4S, so the last NA Manual Boxster they ever did, as I could see them holding their value very well.

I came close to getting a Cayman S before I bought the 640 (different ends of the scale, I know). I've since gone to really appreciate convertibles and tbh - if I was doing it again I'd probably go for the Boxster S. Really really enjoyable place to be and the sound is fantastic.

For your interest. Difficult to judge looks but interesting engine options.

Thanks for the link, i'm not one to judge, but size wise it looks like its going to be a GT car not a sports car.

I'm looking for some advice, but bear with me....

I'm off to New Zealand in September to live, and we've already established that i won't be getting another F10 any time soon, as an exact replacement for mine here would be $70k NZ (£38k). However, i've been looking at what's available over there which is affordable, and i've pretty much set my heart on something like this...

http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1228070773.htm

It's a 2009 BMW 335i convertible with 84k on the clock, seems pretty toyed up and it's $29k NZ (about £15k), which seems a reasonable price for it considering everything European is double the UK price nearly.

My question is, what's the general consensus on these? I'm assuming they will be mechanically the same as ours (Straight 6 twin turbo?) Is the engine reliable etc?

There seem to be quite a few 09/10 models for around this price.

Thanks

I'm at the BMW dealership in Cheltenham having my Connected Drive looked at and they agree it's broke. They've just moved to a new location and it's very impressive.

Looked at the new 5 series and it's lovely inside, some class touches. They also have a F10 M5 and the M4 above. Naughty thoughts.
